4.3 Final Drive still available?

Like the title says, it looks like the 4.3 gear set (M066-27-110A) is no longer available. I'm trying to shorten my gear ratio and add an LSD in my 90' GXL. Does anybody have a lead on where to find the 4.3 gears? Are there other options out there that I haven't come across? I went through some threads from a few years back but seems like there are no options in 2022. Would appreciate any help for those who have done this recently. Thanks!

I believe a gtus came with 4.3 gears in a n/a size which I believe was a viscous lsd, or Infini fc came with a 4.3 in turbo size.

Chance of getting one used, I’m always on the hunt for the Infini diff gearset.

Yeah, that would be the ideal situation but I wont hold my breath. Thinking if I can at least get the ring and pinion and I could go with a used LSD which can be found or just pony up and put an os giken diff in there. Feel like it would transform the car.

Hear you on that. I’ve ran stock n/a clutch type, stock t2 clutch type, rebuilt and overshimmed t2 clutch type. Now on ats deftforce t2 2 way and man it’s aggressive, definitely the icing on the cake. Have an os giken clutch and it’s perfect, i have no doubt their diff is as well.

I’ll be subscribed to this thread as I’m also interested in getting a 4.3 - 4.6, I have way too high of wheel speed for drifting.

Mazdatrix has a rear end with the clutch type for sale in their clearance section.
New Products, Specials, Clearance, One-Offs | Mazdatrix

I also have a 4.3 gearset I may be selling soon. I actually have the complete rear end out of my GTUs. There is some play in the spider gears. I took it out due to vibrations coming from the rear that I thought was in the rear end. I actually think I had a bad wheel bearing that was the source of most of the noise. Any way I imagine shipping on a complete rear would be expensive. Also not sure if the VLSD still works as I've read over time the fluid breaks down and it starts to function like an open diff.
You can use a torsen diff from a 1.8 Miata as well as they used a 7" ring gear.. Not sure which year range or which model specifically.

If you do sell, please reach out. I'd definitely be interested depending on what I can salvage from it.

Thanks!

If either of those offers are for a t2 gearset and the OP is only interested in a n/a gearset, shoot me a PM. It’s been a while for the hunt for the illusive 4.3 Infini t2 gearset.

P092-27-110B, its NLA in the US, but looks to be available in Japan still. https://www.amayama.com/en/part/mazda/p09227110b
in addition to the better gearing, the car will be lighter because your wallet will be empty

My luck with Amayama has been spotty. I've ordered several times when it said stock was available only to have my order cancelled. If you want it and are willing to pay, it's definitely always worth the shot though. I've always taken it in stride, because these were all orders for a 30+ year old car. My expectation was always that it wasn't really available.

My most recent order just came back as delayed 0.5-1.5 months, so there is hope I might receive this one (shift **** for 40th AE RX-8).

thanks j9fd3s, always going above and beyond. You’re like a rx7 database supercomputer.

I guess I gotta pay the cost to be the boss. I have a friend who has a sister company in Japan. I think I’ll reach out to him to look into stock.

the NA uses the M Type diff which is a 7" ring gear
the T2 uses the P Type which is an 8" ring gear.

so no, not compatible

RX-8 gears?

Don't the RX-8's 4.77, 4.44 (manual) and 4.30 (auto) fit? They do the FD.

they would but the FC has a goofy long pinion setup. people have taken the FC pinion, cut it and extended the Rx8/FD gear
