Please help identify this differential..

It was in a '86 RX7 5 spd N/A, I don't know if it is the original diff and suspect it is not. It took just over 4 turns of the pinion to get the ring gear around so I believe it's a 4.10. Can anyone help identify more info on this diff? The number stamped on the ring gear looks to be "D < 1245". The "D" is not clear, but definitely has "1245"

Can't really tell the size of it, but do you know if the ring gear is 7 or 8 inches? IIRC the TII ring is 8" and the NA is 7". Looks like a clutch type LSD unit from an RX-7, though... I don't really know if that's what you're asking?

When I took my rear ends apart, I put in an LSD unit that looked pretty much like that. And to get the gear ratio count the number of teeth on the ring and divide by the number of teeth on the pinion.

Also, I am not sure if the 86 RX-7's came with a LSD rear end... the FAQ thread at the top will have the answer to that though.

Hope it helps.

Thanks for the responses. It's a 7" ring gear.

Is that a clutch type LSD, does anyone know?

Thanks, I was wondering how to tell what the gear ratio is...

How do you know when to replace the clutch packs???
I pulled a rear end out of an 88 GXL, the car had about 125k on it.
We installed it on my friends car until he wrecked it and it ran smooth...
just wondering how much life it has on it before parts start needing to be replaced in it?

Thanks!!!
