MD 4.3?

Does anyone here have the 4.3 ring/pinion set installed? I've never talked to anyone that has, and I'd like to get a couple of opinions on whether or not its worth the install. I understand that the acceleration gains are negated by a somewhat lower mileage and I was hoping someone here could offer up some advice.

Its slightly noticeable. Compared to a 3.90 and a 4.10. You gain speed a little quicker but it lowers your top speed as a result. It's not bad though. You hardly notice it. It's probably good for drag racing.

Eh...More interested in drifting...My car is great sideways, but it's kinda got some problems w/ the suspension in that its not tight enough. I just want it to break free more easily.

SHort gearing is something all drift cars without a lot of hp should consider.

It will really help with longer turns that require you to be in thrid gear.

Well here's the conundrum...It's also a DD. I do suspect that the 4.1 is fine as is, as I can break free w/ a simple power over, but I was just wondering if it's an exorbant increase in acceleration.

4.3 wouldnt make barely a diff in city driving but on highway you will eat up more gas because you will have to be in higher rpms to do 75mph

Ehhh.....my car is a daily driver and a track/drift car. Being NA it helped out a little I suppose, but really its not as noticeable as people think it is. Don't put too much stock in it, get it or not, just don't assume it's going to be a big help.

Well, actually, w/ enough skill, its NOT a must, but nevertheless...what kind of mileage are you pulling in at both C/H?

I think for the cost, it's not a big enough difference to be worth it. It's less than 5% different, think about that before spending lots of money on it. Having a good LSD will almost certainly be a better use of the money as far as the diff goes. You can rebuild the stock S4 LSD's to lock harder if that's what you want, or just get it back to new specs and it'll be a lot better.

Well, currently, I'm WITHOUT LSD due to a necessary swap back to stock due to a lockup entirely my fault...lack of maintenance is a huge bitch. With lesbian friends. Rebuild to follow...

i had 3.9's in the past and i just got 4.1's and im satisfy. i feel like the amount of money you going to spend on 4.3 is not worth for the small difference but in your case you need an LSD so you got options. i would stick to 4.1 if i was you.
