Hello all, My friend has a 88(i think) gsl and his 3rd gear just sucks we always joke about it being like a reverse. He does got a fairly new engine in the car its only got about 25000-35000kms on it and his 3rd gear just sucks. i dont know much about the 2nd gen 13b i am a first gen 12a guy. But i was wondering if you guys had any ideas why the car pulls hard in first and 2nd but 3rd gear just sucks !!! Thx for any help

make sure all ports are opening. thats all i have to say

 

damn...make sure his intake is working propperly...3rd is usually a monster gear...

 

monster gear pulls the hardest ? also how would i tell him to check in the intake is working?

 

this doesn't make any sense.

maybe it's my technical side talking.

But if the car feels slow in 3rd, chances are, it'll feel even slower in 4th and 5th. It's amazing how gear ratios affect acceleration.

 

yea 3rd gear pulls crazy in my car... look at the ports as said..

 

Make sure the 6-ports or whatever they're called (the lil sleeves) are working...you can look at the LIM while the car is running and you'll see, as he revs the engine, the actuator arms moving. I, too, have a hard time imagining a "3rd gear only" glitch...
