Yeah we are talking about a car with no turbo, meaning no lag and a it has more torque. Plus we were starting in a perfect rpm range for him where I was at 3800-4000 rpm when I hit it. 80-120 was not a good race for my car. I wanted to go from 60 in 3rd gear but we never did. Plus I did not floor my car.

SirCygnus- you probably walk regular 370's with horrible drivers. I have beat plenty of cars (srt8 chargers) with only 217whp because apparently they could not drive. The driver makes a big difference, and my driving was not the best on the runs with my dad.

srt8 chargers usually are sold in automatics. if someone doesnt know how to drive on of those, then im sorry, that sucks.

so you admit that you cant drive the car well?

Shouldn't that be a good RPM range for you? You should have been at full boost, and with 299hp and however much torque, you should have pulled like a freight train.

Not putting your stuff down, because you have a clean setup, but that just doesn't seem right.

Care to explain to me how too (that would be with two "o's") small a wastegate will cause a lower HP reading? Maybe have Nelson post up as you clearly don't understand. I'll give you a hint, WG size effect's boost response and creep ....... both of which will be more with a smaller WG, which will actually increase boost..... interesting isn't it.... but I suppose since you have the best flowing FC EVA!!!!!! you should probably rock twin 44mm

I bought a used/seized engine from "one of the best engine builders in CA" ..... I bought it for $500 becuase the thing seized after 25 minutes of idle time becuase the wrong stat gears and front bearings were used. The side seals were set between .002 and .02mm, rounded out ends. Mismatched springs were used, wrong housings, and the porting looked like Ray Charles did it when he was high. So either the state of CA in it's entirerty needs to get out of the rotary game, or people should stop listening and then parroting people's unfounded opinions on the internet

assuming you have a passenger and speaker equipment thats about 225 lbs extra, so that would assume 232.02 hp/tonne. which means you are still making more power per tonne than he is. which means you are losing to a car thats slower than you. gearing in the 370z is not that different than our very own rx7, so to say you lost because of gearing is a joke.

i walk 370 z's all day in my car and i make less hp than you do.
yup... wow facts and numbers. Could it be? Nice post.

Assuming you have stock gearing, an 80 up pull would be better for your car, you'd be bogging in 3rd at 60. But, like I said, this is making an assumption about your torque curve as no-one has seen a dyno chart.

How tough is it to push the pedal on the right as hard as you can? We're talking highway pulls here not auto-x's or track days here. Last weekend I got beat by a 370z by about a little over a second and he was generally considered one of the best drivers out that day. He was FAST.

anyway dude fmic. cx racing kit. cut and fit yourself, it will be a good starting point for working on your own car. and it doesn't mess up your bumper if you do it right, i didn't even remove mine.

crushed it a tad here

^ Yeah I did not want to waste my time with that douche anymore and tell him how good Nelson is. Plus he apparently does not understand gearing or the fact that I have a heavy *** sound system and I had a passenger. He thinks motor is everything. his car my be fast but try being fast and getting 25-30mpg like the m3 can.
crushing that pipe as i did will have no noticeable effect on the setup. its WAY more effective than the topmount that was on the car it had 2" inlets and outlets. it is tight in the picture but i have since moved it a tad closer to PS pump. i am not having any issues with clearnce, and its not going to rub through anything

thanks, when i was waiting on rebuild parts i took my pulleys to the local machine shop and got a hold of a lathe for a few hours. and polised them up using a bunch of different grits, and when i was satisfied i clear coated with some kind of spray clear. it looks great and is holding up very well, better that spending 1k of fancy pulleys.

I live here and know personally people who have been tuned by Nelson and they love their tunes.

Regardless, you have to trust what people tell you sometimes, thats what the tech section of this site is for. Of course you should only take it with a grain of salt and still use your best judgement. If you don't believe anything anyone tells you on the internet, then why even be a member on this forum?

Seriously though you need to calm down with the negativity and harsh words. Nobody really cares that much. The bottom line is this thread is about a really well done 10AE. It doesn't have the highest horsepower, the highest trap time of its class, or any milled parts created from AutoCAD, but its great for what it is. If the OP lost to a 370Z, then he lost to a 370Z. When I was a teenager I remember losing to a CRX from a dig, and I guarantee you I would lose again today to the same car. Point is, who cares?

That's wonderful. I know people personally who have bought rebuilt engines by what some consider to be the best in the business.... when I tear them down, I laugh and shake my head.

No, I don't and I rarely do.

This I will agree with 110%

I break alot of parts and own 3 rx7's. Becuase there are people here who do know what they are talking about, and there are people here who genuinely want to learn.... when those two types of people get together, it's a wonderful thing.

I am calm. Perfectly calm. Who says I'm not? I have a habit of pointing out things that don't make sense, retarded excuses, etc etc.... and people think I'm an ******* for it. Fine, whatever.

Quick update- Approx. 2500 miles on the rebuild and I have not had 1 problem. The car works perfect as a daily and this weekend I might take it to willow Springs to test it on a track. Also in the future I plan to take it to the drag strip one time just to see what kind of time it will do.
