s4 TII motor, good-bad?
So i bought this lil bad boy from some random *** mexicants, that couldnt figure out the car problems. Parted the car blah blah blah.
I hooked up a battery to the car to test the electrical, after about 20 seconds of fidgeting with switches, i smell something funny. Get out of the car and the alternator is smoking a little bit... yank the cables off the battery and try to figure out whats goin on.
turns out They had a cable (For what looks like an amp) running from the positive on the battery and "grounded" it to the alternator bracket on the motor...So what i have found out since this is that 1...The alternator is dead. and 2. I just recently found out the ecu is dead too....So bad news bears..
On the plus side- This makes me wonder, since "I" Didnt do this messy *** wiring job, That perhaps the motor is in fact good and doesnt need a rebuild at this time at all. I can turn the motor over with ease by hand.
So I have the short block, NO FLYWHEEL OR CLUTCH, or else i would hook that all up and compression test the right way but i know you can get an "idea" by sound with the puffs.
Here is a video of me turning it over. Lemme know what you think !

theres still some good compression judging from the sound. A few puffs seem weak, but spinning at 30-40 rpm isnt so ideal LOL
You can quickly check the apex seals, and side seals if you got a mirror or so through the intake ports and exhaust, you can also check out the bottom half of the housing to see if there is chipping, or any unusual wear on the bottom part of the housing through the exhaust ports.
Just be careful not to drop anything inside the engine.
