Well this was an interesting thread to read.

Nice car/build and I love that you want to keep your 10AE stock bodied as well as go with a reliable tune. Smart!

Thanx man^

I really want a front mount for the easy hp increase but I am not going to sacrifice my front bumper or stock appearance. Once the wastegate is taken care of the stock top mount will be the only thing holding me back.

Rene at Rotary Works just did my front mount intercooler and he only had to cut a small hole for my 2.5 inch piping where the stock location battery goes. The front bumper support is still there, the grill is still there, and even my plastic trays between the headlights are still there. I'll post pictures when I get it back within the next 2 weeks to show you what I mean. Its usually the generic application front mounts that require lots of cutting and trimming to make them fit. My intercooler sits at least 6 inches back from the front of the grill and is sandwhiched right against the AC condenser and radiator.

Don't you have to get another tune every time you make a major modification like that though?

Yeah deffinetly post some pics for me. Just throw them up on this thread. As long as I can keep my front bumper clean, keep power steering and A/C then I will be interested in the future.

Yeah the car will need to be tuned again unfortunetly.

Oh yeah I also kept the AC and PS.

Man I was thinking about your car again today while I was at school and how much I loved your setup. Someday I'll have something similar!

You should look into one of the older HKS FMIC's. You don't cut your bumper, bumper support, or anything else. You keep AC/PS/battery in the stock location. You only need to cut one 2.5" hole for the IC piping to route through and it's not all that visible by looking at the front of the car. I have a few pics from when I had that intercooler on my car. I can PM them to you if you'd like or something..

Here's how it looks from the front of the car

this is how the IC piping is routed so you can keep PS/AC/Stock battery location

Where the intercooler sits with the piping going to the TB

The one one hole you need to cut to fit the piping.. Mine was actually overkill. You can get away with a lot smaller hole.

The piping from the turbo into the IC

These are great units and I think you'd be pretty happy with one! They're a little rare but I'm sure people on here would be willing to sell. I went with a bigger IC as my power goals raised so I sold mine. Mine was in mint condition..

Is the Fc2000 front end different though? As in what needs to be cut. Also did the hood contact the tubing at all? Would I be able to keep the stock fan? I do not want to go electric. (I like the way the electric looks but I have a sound system and do not want put to much strain on the alternator) I would have to get rid of my strut brace to go that route too.

That looks really nice though. And your car looks really nice. lol
If I ever do get a fmic it wont be for a while so I am just trying to weigh my options right now and see what is out there. Thank you so much for your help and taking the time to post up pics, it is much appreciated.

Thanks! The car is hella dirty!

The tubing does not contact the hood, but that's a good question on if the piping would fit with the stock fan and shroud. I would assume yes but that's not for sure that it would, but maybe someone with this IC that has tried to fit it on with the stock fan and shroud can chime in. The stock fan and shroud is what I've always ripped out first. In this vert, there's no where to put a sound system. The trunk is housing or going to be housing the battery, surge tank, and fuel cell for the AI.

With the FC2000 bumper, it doesn't change where you cut at all for the piping. If you want to go a cheaper route, you can go with an NPR intercooler as well. Those fit in without cutting the front bumper at all, but you have to lose the hood latch and cut 2 holes (one on each side of the radiator support) for the piping.

So after the dyno, RRR pulled your engine, broke it down, put it on the flow bench and compared it to every single other engine that they have ever dyno'ed before rebuilding it, sticking it back in the car and sending you on your merry gay little way? Did you ever stop to think that maybe these people are just telling you things to make you feel better about a car and hobby that you know so very little about? I mean really, if he said that to me after a dyno I would laugh at him. He told you that to give you a good feeling about the whole thing. For all we know he left 50whp on the table. No one has seen a dyno sheet, a L log, a timing map.... NOTHING. But he did suceed in getting a little free advertisement. I'll never go to RRR, whoever that is, just based on what you just said, but hey, whatever, someone else probably will because of that post. Please stop trying to make yourself feel better about an engine that you had nothing to do with either..... the lack of knowledge here is giving me a headache.

3400 lb car with 270 ft/lbs of torque, you should've been able to pull on that..... ****, I'll eat that thing for breakfast and poop it out on the hood of the M3 :smilielol5:

i would want to hear good **** about my car if i had paid for this **** true or not lol. but posting it on the internet is another thing. the internet is serious business.

anyway dude fmic. cx racing kit. cut and fit yourself, it will be a good starting point for working on your own car. and it doesn't mess up your bumper if you do it right, i didn't even remove mine.

crushed it a tad here

The 370Z has gearing, and Nelson at RRR is one of the best rotary tuners here in CA.

I like that setup bikeboy except for having to crush the tube a little. plus the motor does move when you get on it so sitting up against there like that is not good. Eventually that pipe will rub through and need to be replaced. I have no problem doing the intercooler myself, that is easy stuff.

^ Yeah I did not want to waste my time with that douche anymore and tell him how good Nelson is. Plus he apparently does not understand gearing or the fact that I have a heavy *** sound system and I had a passenger. He thinks motor is everything. his car my be fast but try being fast and getting 25-30mpg like the m3 can.

I hear the rumbling of a Titanium colored flame cloud coming this way....

Nice setup, once again. I do have to agree a with TT a bit here, it would be nice to see a dyno sheet.

according to my math

225.17 hp/tonne for the 370 z
251.89 hp/tonne for your setup sans driver.

assuming you have a passenger and speaker equipment thats about 225 lbs extra, so that would assume 232.02 hp/tonne. which means you are still making more power per tonne than he is. which means you are losing to a car thats slower than you. gearing in the 370z is not that different than our very own rx7, so to say you lost because of gearing is a joke.

i walk 370 z's all day in my car and i make less hp than you do.

370Z

Gear Ratios (Manual)

1st 3.794
2nd 2.324
3rd 1.624
4th 1.271
5th 1.000
6th 0.794
FD 3.692

s4 turbo ratios

1st 3.483
2nd 2.015
3rd 1.391

We haven't seen a dyno sheet of the OP's FC but I imagine that 370Z makes torque pretty quick.
