3000rpm at startup!
My stock '86 base goes to 3000rpm at startup. I'm told that this is normal and that I can disconnect one wire and get rid of this feature. Which wire, where?
If you pull the wires off the water temp switch under the radiator, you disable the acv which means your emissions will not pass, at least in Texas. When that sw is disabled, it in turn disables the relief solenoid which in turn disables the relief valve in the acv which in turn dumps all the air from the air pump overboard which means there is no air going to the port air, or split air. Either tap the throttle or put it in gear for 17 seconds, like they say above. Then again, if you have removed your acv, then pull at least one wire off the water temp sw on the radiator.
