It has its own amplifier built in and requires its own power source separate from the head unit.

I'll look into them. I do want some bass that can be heard over my exhaust tho. I'm thinking more of mounting a normal sub in that location, just making a custom box where the storage bin is, and sealing it off inside the actual storage box

*digging out an old thread*

I just bought myself a Pioneer TS-WX77A active subwoofer ( TS-WX77A Space-Saving Amplified Subwoofer (200W) - Pioneer Speakers, Subwoofers ) and will try to install it the next days. It seem to be too wide to fit between the rear speakers but I could install it onto the back side of the read speakers or under the carpet, well, I will see ...
(and yes, I wanted something removable which won't change the appearance of a stock complete unmodified classic car)

I have a basslink in my vert under the panel that hides the tire. It works pretty good even with the top down. Just make sure is is solidly mounted or it won't produce clean sound. The only true benefit you get from the basslink 2 is with its add-on board you can power all the speakers in the car.

I have the Basslink and personally think it isn't enough power. I listen to metal so for that purpose it's perfect but I also listen to a lot of electronic music, and for that is isn't enough bass.

I wonder if the head unit matters. I have my basslink set in the middle and -3 on the head unit so it doesn't over power the rest of the audio. I also have it set to fill in a very narrow band the rest of the speakers can't handle on there own.

I have a Kenwood KDC696.

JBL GTO 6.5" in the doors and 5.25" in the shock towers.
Loudness set to 1
Bass set to +2
Subwoofer set to +5-7(I can't remember)
Mid set at +4
Treble set at +3
I can't remember what my Basslinks settings are(gain etc)

Like I said, when I listen to metal it has a nice short kick for the drums and my speakers sound great for the rest. But when it comes to electronic music it doesn't vibrate the car enough. :P

Works when it is a 2-seater FC. All EU-spec FC have the rear seats which I would not like to throw out of the car.
An other question which is not subwoofer related: does all US spec FC have 16cm mounts for the rear speakers? The european have 20cm...

Here's what I put together for my turbo vert. Fiberglass resin molded enclosure. It's a Boston Acoustic Pro 8 subwoofer powered by a JL Audio Slash amp.

LOL sure drive your car to me and leave it for a weekend...wait, what am I think??..hell no! Talk about a PITA of a project

Here's a pictorial to give you an idea of how it's done. If you or anyone else wants more details shoot me a PM, I'd be more than happy to walk you through how it's done.

Obviously there is a lot left out of the pictures. I had to build it for a specific volume. Had to make many coats till it was hardened. In those multiple coats I had to make sure I didn't leave any gaps or holes.

I didn't bother much with making it pretty as it's always hidden under the cover.

How about two 15"s in a custom parcel shelf that hangs between the strut towers with the subs facing up?

I just put a 10" type r in a truck box with 500watts to it. Secured it with the cargo straps. Sounds great! Amp in one of the bins. Smalls cars don't need huge sub setups to be loud and sound good. Too much sub means a lot more into speakers just to hear the music. I enjoy loud all around not just bass. On the other hand I have 4 type e 10" jammed into my wrx lol
