2"" piping too small?
Hey i have been thinking alot about this lately and then got reinspired to ask when i saw that other piping thread. Im almost done aquiring the final parts for my turboed n/a setup and am unsure about the piping sizes i should go with. I had originally planne don 2.5" simply because the intercooler I had had 2.5" inlet/outlet. But now im gonna be front mounting a stock TMIC which has 2" piping. Im planning on running 10-12 psi regularly with water or possibly methanol injection. Would the 2" be too restrictive?

the intercooler is obviously your restriction in this case. I think i would do 2.5 even though its prob no better than 2 with that small intercooler causing the restriction. I would much more like to convince you to go to a larger intercooler. Im thinkin your tryin to save a buck but $200 ebay intercooler would be a big improvement and if your planning of doin it later then to do it now would save the time/money of changing the piping later

Yea saving money is the real go, i kinda feel bad paying more for the IC than my turbo and manifolds put together. I may go with a starion intercooler, but other than that how does the 2" piping sound?

2" is too small, You may get high velocity which is good at the low end but your going to run out of volume of flow very quickly.. your not going to get enought flow to make 14's never mind 12's.. Save your money, get 2.5" and a larger FMIC. ( not too large on the IC.. lag & reduced cooling eff. is not a good thing either. )

2" is fine. I did 12s on 2" as have others. However there's no reason not to go to 2.5" since the cost differance is minimal. Just use adapters to connect it to whatever intercooler you choose. The adapter and intercooler will of course be a restriction, but then the piping is already there for when you go to a larger cooler.
