Arrow 2 hoses attached to bottom of intake tube

Very simply, what are the 2 hoses that attach to the bottom of the stock intake? I am replacing the intake and never remembered seeing those on my old rx7's.

Also on the back of the intake there is a vac hose with a green/white ball on it. Both my fc's had a T placed into this line that is just left open. What is the purpose of this T?

Three years here and over 2000 posts and you didn't think to look in the FSM?

The hoses on the intake are for the BAV valve and AWS valve (see schematic on page F1-6). The green and white check valve is for the double-throttle system (see page (F1-35).

Sorry for the laxyness, I checked the haynes and they werent labeled.

Im still confised though. I thought series 5's didnt have an AWS. I also have an intake off a s4 that has the smaller of these 2 tubes blocked off.
At the moment I have these 2 tubes out of the intake and filtered with fine screening till I find breathers in that size, my car now idles alot lower and has a bit of a slow start. This isnt really a problem as much as a curiousity. Is there any solution for this besides putting them back in the intake?
Im assuming something can be done because the intake im using is made for this car and doesnt have a location for them.

Also,I wasnt asking about the check valve I was asking what the purpose of the open "T" in the line was. Its aparently on all fc's. I removed mine before I knew all other fc's had it too.

Haven't you looked in the FSM yet? It in there...

The S4 uses one hose to feed both.

You're sucking in unmetered air and messing up the idle mixture. Either reconnect the hoses to the intake or get an aftermarket EMS that doesn't use an AFM.

It was made by someone who couldn't be bothered putting in connections for them, or had removed those valves.

I don't know why the tee's there, but it's supposed to be capped like it shows in the FSM.

The T on my '89 GXL went to either the cruise control or the sub zero starter I don't remeber which one. I removed both and capped the T before the check valve.
