na to turbo ANTI-SWAY BARS, not boosting :)

My s4 GXL has stock anti-sway bars, and I'd like to upgrade just a bit to the turbo sways. There is what, a 2mm difference or so? I already have adj. end links., and I'd be replacing those rubbers with the poly bushings as well.

Whats your input on the thinner vs thicker oem sways?

I went from a 1990 GTU with NA suspension, aftermarket springs and KYB AGX adjustable shocks to a 1990 GXL with stock "Hard" suspension: thicker swaybars, stiffer springs, stock electronic shocks (17 year old parts?) and was still very impressed. I don't know if the previous owner had the shocks rebuilt at some point or if they're just holding up well, but the suspension felt much improved over my GTU.

I'd say go for it.

And since I just installed coilovers and aftermarket swaybars on my GXL, let me know if you want to buy my stock parts.

Curious as to why you wouldn't just go with the RB sways? Bigger than the T2 pieces and if your in there swapping them out, you might as well...

The RB has a very thick front sway bar, and thats just too much understeer for me since this setup is for drifting.

Also, for $100 give or take, you can have T2 thicker sway bars and poly bushings; Roughly $100-$200 less than RB, and not too much of a difference.

and if someone is to say that you really need thicker sway bars than the t2's for drifting, check out Pawlak's setup. He definitely shows that the whole power craze and drastic upgrades aren't necessary. He's running stock sways, poly bushings, and stock power.

Wee for being on a budget

Well ... I just dropped my 88 GTU, (everything: engine, tranny, rear end) and my rear sway bar was exactly the same (doing a look and open ended wrench test). The front also looks the same but I havn't tested it with an open ended wrench yet (cant find one big enough. :P

I donno if it's just my GTU or what because I heard an 88 gtu has some turbo parts already on it (seats, suspension), but I'm not sure.

Should I be able to till a difference between a normal NA sway bar and a T2 sway bar just by looking at it?

Thanks, I have the ability to get / upload pictures of the two if you want. They are both out sitting on right next to each other right now.

You'll need to measure it, because I know its not a huge difference... throw up pictures of the rears and fronts w/ the turbo sway bars, all compared with a ruler

Ok well I went out and did some stuff this morning. I got some numbers .... but remember again im not sure if the 88 gtu had stock turbo stuff or what....

anyways Im new at using this tool so my readings are very (estimated) haha. Its in inches

t2
rear sway: .553 inch
half shaft: 1.031
other shaft thing: .881
driveshaft: 2.951

88 gtu
rear sway: .560
half shaft: .954
other shaft thing: .879
driveshaft: 2.254

again those are my readings, and you have to remember like a peice of dirt could easily be 100s of an inch. Personally I think they are the same. (the sway bars) I dont see how the NA could be thicker than the t2.

Hope that helped.

Here are some pictures 4 MB http://files.filefront.com/rx7rearsw.../fileinfo.html

the racing beat isnt much larger...

""Our Racing Beat-designed sway bars reduce chassis roll in turns and increase the RX-7's sensitivity to steering input, thereby improving maximum cornering power. We engineer these components to provide optimal front-to-rear balance utilizing select steel alloys, controlled heat-treating, and specific bar diameter and geometry.

This .625-inch OD sway bar comes completes with mounting hardware (including high-density urethane mounting bushings and bushing lubricant) and installation instructions. All Racing Beat sway bars utilize the stock sway bar links.""

~.553 to .625 = .072 of an inch difference.... unless it is made out of different stiffer material or something, I dont see it being that big a difference.

It bent my chassis a little up on both sides.

I have to say my na handles almost perfect to my liking. I have the full racing beat suspension kit, with 4 kyb agxs, and the racing beat front strut tower bar.
