1990 and 3k to spare.
I wouldn't pay more than 4000 for ANY FC. Find one that's in fair condition and cheap and just fix it up with all that left over money. IMO none are worth more than 4500 stock.

okay i've wisened up in the past day and now i have somewhat of a grasp for what i should be paying. I'm very happy i found this forum before i did something stupid.

My rule of thumb when i bought my fc.
As follows:
N/A S4(86-88) $2250 +/- $250
N/A S5(89-91) $2600 +/- $300
TII S4(86-88) $3200 +/- $500
TII S5(89-91) $3600 +/- $500
All these prices are for stock, good condition.
I got my N/A S4 for $1500 in NYC. If you have the patience then you can find the ideal car for you. I remember I was about to jump into a 240sx (Fair Condition) for $1800 except when I started bargaining price, the car died and never started again. lol, i got saved that time.
