1986 NA engine thermal images
OK, no one asked for them, and there is no use for them, but here are some thermal images I took this morning with engine warmed up. BTW emissivity is set to .77 if anyone is interested. Temps in degrees C. Use color graph on right of each photo for reference. A few things to note:
1. This car has a strut tower brace and the black magic 150 electric fan.
2. Notice how you can follow the coolant lines. The ones that go to the BAC and intake manifold are very visible.
3. If the police are ever chasing you with a helicopter equipped with thermal, get under or into something which is the same temperature as your surroundings. It will hide you, at least until your body warms it up.

That is... Awesome.
I wish I could see what a turbo looks like on this thing. Would probably be white all over. What kind of camera do you have that does that? this prolly belongs in the non-technical thread, but whatever, still wicked sweet.

Jack, what are you talking about "welcome to the forum"? Looks to me like I joined before you? I guess you are referring to my lack of posts? It is embarassing.
The camera is a Flir SC640. With the spare lens my office paid $77K for it. It makes me uncomfortable just using it.
I won't expect a turbo FC to look much different since engine operating temp should be the same, unless you mean the actual turbo unit on the exhaust. If someone with a turbo FC around columbia or laurel wants to make the thermal image PM me.
I forgot to do it with the FC but here is a pic of my mid-engined car. It's really neat to see both the front radiator, and engine at opposite ends heating up the pavement.

no good reason. it was just there because the last thing I measured was a cotton sheet which has .77 emissivity. Each part in the engine has such a different E value that for a full view it doesn't matter much. My guess is everything in there is between .7 and .95 so .77 is not a bad option.

cool pics! i think with a rotary we just expect to see all white....
the 308 is a 308. i guess maybe you could think of the Dino as a precursor to the 308, the 206/246 dino is a sexy mid engine v6, i think the 206 is like a 2 liter, and the 246 is 2.4?
the 308 is a v8, they came in a couple of flavors, but its like the GSL-SE of the ferrari world, it looks great, drives nice, its inexpensive to run.
the 328, 348, 355, 360 follow the 308. the 308 is still the best looking of the bunch though.
cool pics BTW!

j9fd3s is mostly correct, and obviously has good tastes in cars.
There is a 308 dino, it is called the 308GT4. Its a 4 seater made from 73-80. It looks nothing like the 77-85 308 GTS or 75-85 GTB and most people do not consider it very pretty. I could go on, but this is an rx7 site.
Below is my 83 308 GTS Quattrovalvole
