13b GOt LOck

Why or How will a 13b lock itself? On saturday, my friends and I went out crusuing and the we park at a plaza. My 7 was running normal, after two hours of been parked i decided to started up. I went for it and then i hurt a weird noise and heard the starter behaving weird. I saw smoke coming from the starter and so we try to push starter and nothing. I check the engine and it will not turn either forward or backward. Does anyone knows why or what happen?

This also happened to a buddy of mine. It was running fine, shut it off to go in a minit mart; came out...Nothing....Locked. Towed it home, put a 19mm on front e-shaft bolt, wouldnt budge.

So later on that week, took the engine out. To find out that an apex seal fell out, i guess it was cracked, and just small enough to "fall" out of the groove, and locked the rotor.

Does your engine have high mileage?

This was my experience, hopefully you'll get lucky and it can be something else.

it is suppose to be a rebuilded and when i put it on it was to suppose to have less then 1k miles in it and i put about 3k so i guess it is low mileage

Is there oil in it?

It's possible there is something stuk inside the chamber, or they didnt put the locking tab on the oil pump drive sprocket on corretly.

dump diesel in the spark plug holes and let it sit over night. next day get a breaker bar and slowly work the motor back and fourth until it frees up. works like a charm if its carbon locked. good luck

If your starter made weird noises, did you make sure the starter gear retracted and not stuck "out" on the flywheel.
