105km buzzer

Hi I've imported a convertible rx7 (1988) a buzzer sounds when the car reaches around 105. I'm sure its located behind the instrument pod. I don't really want to disable the buzzer completly as it may be used of other things like low coolant. But want to stop it sounding at 105 km and above. Does anyone know how to do this. The American version of the workshop manual does not show any details of the wiring for this.

thanks in advance
John

I never heard anything like that. Did you check all your fluid levels?

Just remove the screw from the back of the cluster marked 100K/120K

Its on some non-A spec cars

Its not at a certain RPM, its not the fluid level. Im in top gear straight and flat the car hits 105-107 and the buzzer sounds. Mark has given me something to do will check it out in 2 weeks when I go home, thanks to all for the feedback.

This is a very common feature on cars from Japan. I didn't realise it could be disabled like Mark said, but mine doesn't do this so I guess a previous owner did it. While you have the cluster out, also remove the screw with "180" printed next to it. That disables the 180km/h speed limiter.

Yeah it's a speed limiter thing and luckily they placed it right on the back of the cluster. Just remove the screw and you should remove the annoying buzzer.

If it was coolant the light would come on as well in the idiot cluster for low coolant.

Cars in japan had a warning buzzer to sound to the driver to tell him when he was nearing 180K/mh.

No, they have a 105km/h speed warning and a 180km/h speed limiter.

Don't remove the rev/oil/coolant buzzer, that's just dumb. This is not what sounds at 105km/h.
