100a?

Why is there a 100a fuse under my hood? Can the alternator/battery even put out that much? I thought it was usually around 60a.

What year 7 do you have ? I think the S4's put out 60-70 and the S5 70-80 and the 3rd gens put out 100

That's the master fuse, though I don't believe it is 100A stock. I think it's closer to 70 or 80 stock. It fuses the entire electrical system (except the starter). Your alternator may not be able to produce 100A, but your battery will do 10x that amount into a short.

I know the '89-91 cars have higher main fuses, but I don't think they're *that* high. Does it actually say "100A" on the fuse block cover?

I'm pretty sure the 3rd gen uses a 100A main fuse.
