Unhappy Urgent Racing Help

I think I screw up a lot of things on my car....

Hi, my name is J and im 19. I have an 89 GTU that i bought from this old guy, i am the third owner and this is also my first car. My problem is when i bought the car... I replaced the radiator, belts, altinator, spark plugs, water pump, and the fuses under the steering wheel... (everything was screwing up one by one) naturally this made me mad cause i just to quickly learn bout this car that i had no tech. info on and on top of that... i was a lot of money that i didnt have... after replacing all those... I decided to get into racing... having an RX-7 is a big responsibility, there is always a need for speed especially when those integraz and civics come around thinkin thier the stuff!!! Im sorry let me get to the point. I was driving home one nite and I was driving about 85 or so... and this Porsche Boxter pulled up beside me.... he hot infront of me and flashed his HAZARDS so i change lanes and decide to blow him out with all stock GTU (I concider my self a good enough driver to do that at least.) 90mph, 100, 110, 120, 130, all of a sudden smoke BOOM... i hear a loud *** noise and a big flash from all the lights on my dash... it blinded me for like 5 seconds... and when i regained vision i was about to hit another car, so i swerved 4 lanes over and missed it but my car was just rolling... no power.... up hill... i put the car in neutral thinking that it would roll to the top of the hill before it stopped and it did so i got out of the car and poped the hood mad as hell and all i see is smoke... when it cleared i see the whole fuse box is messed up and sparks are flying... the only thing i could think of was my water bottle ... i disconnected the battery then splash!!! woooo ... no burnt up car lol... 100A fuse blew out dammaging everything around it and my car wouldnt start.... i thought to my self... (I dont even know where i am) so i thought to my self... how could i fix this?? I cut the wire to my amp and sterio and stripped the plastic off of it and stuck it in the place of the 100A and the thing actually worked.. i drove home and parked it.... in the morning I got a new 100A (that was only sold @ mazda) and i stuck it in and it started... but then none of my guages work, after i replaced all the fuses under the steering wheel the guages worked... but now my ((HOLD BUTTON)) on my automatic trans dose not work which makes me SICK my car starts out at like 2 miles an hour now and after 40 everything is normal... but it shouldnt take a full minute to get to 40... and on top of that... I NEED MY HOLD BUTTON..... can anyone help???

I think you may have killed your rear rotor, that might explain you taking 1 min to get up to 40mph since your car is now running on 1/2 of its normal state.

Unhappy

Its kinda wierd because now... my car can barely go past 100 and even then when i do that i hear this knocking sound as if pistons were hitting the hood.... knowing that i have no pistons.... thats not possible and I also have to put the car in first gear for it to even pull off from a light...

I just find it funny that you think racing on a highway with an automatic car takes skill. And that you thought you could take a Boxter, on the highway, in a stock automatic GTU. Sounds like you needed a reality check...and you got one.

As far as my driving, racing a guy that didnt know how to drive and actually staying infront of him for a full 10 minutes is pretty good driving thank you!!! but i just dont like the fact that i have a stick, let alone no mods...

I just want to know what the problem is so i could fix it and sell it for a stick 86-91

Are you sure he was racing you?

If you can go up too 100mph I don't really think you blew your motor, but a compression test woudn't hurt.

You say you can't off from stop? Might be a tranny issue.

It's going to be hard to tell you it might be if all we know is "It make a sound like a piston was hitting my hood" Are you sure you have oil in your engine and tranny?

And last of all please sell your car before you kill yourself or someone else.

Buy something nice and slow like a civic.

bahh... <rant> grow up, theres tracks for that ****</rant>

you raced someone with an auto tranny? I did that back in the day, got wasted by a stock straight 4 sohc neon. haha, that sucked royaly, and i later found my fouled 6 ports. I later found the appreciation in being able to take corners 3 time as fast as the above said car.

That said... I have to laugh at you... consider what a fool you looked like. 1) racing on the street
2) winning (which is alwight)
3) breaking down (not alright)
4) getting mad at your car (when its your own damn fault-- not alright)
5) coming here bragging about racing (not alright)
6) coming here looking for help (heh, probably the best thing you've done yet...)

Ok... that ranting said... (and don't bitch, you should have expected a flame or two)...

Do a compression check, it will determine if you lost the rear rotor. More than likely, if you're making it to 100mph, then I doubt you did. Check that both ignition packs are working, maybe you shorted the trailling (which could cause some funky stuff to happen).

Once you get some money, ditch the auto tranny. Don't take 7 months to change it out like I am though...

That said... I think you need a different car for your first car, you will end up killing yourself, or someone else with an rx-7-- especially with how you think its ok to street race...

hold button is probably eletrical. And the hold will be overridden by the car's computer if it thinks you're an idiot (it won't drop down from 2nd to 1st if 1st would push it over 6k)...

Perhaps much more likely; he was suggesting that your driving skills make you a hazard on the road?

Because in most cases, drivers under 25 do not have sufficient time in the drivers seat, or maturity to be even close to being a good driver. Yes there are exceptions, but your own insurance company thinks otherwise.

As many before me have pointed out, and you have re-enforced; your original post shows that you lack the maturity...so chances are you lack the skills as well.

But regardless of that…

Sure the guy was just not pissed that you wouldn't yield the fast lane to him, like you should have?

well then you need to be more clear on the problem.

You blew the 100 amp fuse...

You say something blinded you...

abd your hold button doesn't work anymore...

Right?

See the hold switch is a simple switch that feeds ground into the tranny computer when the switch is selected.

It is designed to have the tranny hold when the car is at a light, faceing up hill.

So, if you pull the hold switch, there will be a black wire (which should have ground on it) and a blue/black wire that will have 5+ volts on it when the car is running.

If the hold switch still is not functioning and the wires are correct, unplug the switch and check for continuity between the two wires of the switch when the switch is switched on or off. If there is never continuity, you have a bad switch. If there is continuity when the switch is pressed, but the tranny ECU is still not holding the tranny on hills then you have a bad tranny computer (which could have been blown by the alt failing and surging- which is what I suspect based on your "blinding light" thing).
