well this weekend i got the car put back together and running .... and beat on it a good deal in 20 degree weather

just should add that i did some brake work and fuel lines

I got rid of the power portion of the brakes and moved the master cylinder up to change the ratio of the pedal, turned out great and i love how much more room it added in that corner, need the auto so i can get rid of the clutch master

brake feel is much different now, in a good way, lockup is much more predictable with your input................. and yes i can still lockup all 4 corners at will

just some pics, first the booster i removed, second what it looks like minus the lines, i didnt take another pic after the lines were done

I have sort of have an issue with trying to have the cleanest and simplest engine bay people have seen

we are making progress an auto also

I spose the booster weighs 5-10lbs

I suspect there are boost control issues with the 4th manifold pictured. Again this is probably due to space issues.
You are correct about space being at a minimum however I can personally attest to there being absolutely no boost control issues with that manifold. Full-Race's stuff is top notch!

Hi, zac left his account signed in on my computer, and i see he hasnt been on in ages. Anyway im the one that helped him build alot of this, and I own the Buick GN in the videos.
So to update a little, there really hasnt been much done to the car. He moved back home, and the closest track is like 150miles away. Zac has just been beating the **** out of it all winter in the cold weather. He did take the intercooler off last week though, with the meth injection the IATs are lower than the IC could ever dream of.
The progress on the auto trans is on hold, no money at the moment. Plus there is nothing around that can even dream of keeping up, so its kind of pointless. Hate to say it, but i wouldnt look forward to alot more progress on this build until winter again, summers are pretty busy.
Gary

BTW, a little info on my GN. Its a bone stock 6.0L truck motor, stock 4l80 trans, and stock 1700 stall torque converter. I hung a borg warner S475 on it, and was running 9psi in the video, no intercooler either. From a roll it was no contest, as i could pull a couple lengths on the RX7, but with the factory stall, it was slow as ***** out of the hole. My fastest run was 11.7@127 with a 2.15 60'. This year i have a 3400 stall converter, and much better manifold system that Zac helped me weld up. Also im switching to a 9" with 3.07 gears. So i should do mid 10s@130 on 9psi no problem, hopefully we can get a auto trans into the 7 so it can keep up. LOL

I am sorry but i am done with these engines and am going with a boosted 5.3 vortec, dont hate on me too much

That's a shame. I really enjoyed your writeup. It inspired me to redesign my exhaust manifold.

thanks guys, I still love my car, but these engines are causing too much trouble for me

anyway it will be a boosted 5.3 with a super quiet exhaust so you don't hear the stinky V8 and only turbo

Would've been nice to see you stick with the 13B, but at least you know a good path to take. Which trans are you going to use? Built 4l60E or 2004R or another option? Sticking with the 7 inch differential too?

i did more testing today and it is def a apex seal on the front rotor..... as i have two weak compression pulses and one strong.........

but here is the weird thing, when the car is cold or i am not beating on it the problem is hardly noticeable....... but after a hard pull it is instantly bad, but will slowly come out of it as you drive more and easily

The RA super seals definately wouldn't break......... so i think one seal is warped and when it gets hot during a pull it looses more compression and then comes out of it as you cool it down

i'm curious, how much vacuum does it pull with that one warped seal (and at what RPM idle)? And didn't you say you detonated it at the track a while back when you forgot to turn on your AI?

Also, do you have any information on what AFR's you have been running, how many degrees of leading advance, and what split? Also what % alcohol/meth were you injecting? I'm curious about all this so we can understand what might have gone wrong.

[QUOTE=zbrown;6921511]yeah your right i never really said..... but i have been driving the car everyday since it has ran, and quite a bit before i had a WG on it and actually boosted

id say atleast 300mi before boost, it keeps pulling more and more vaccuum, and runs like a top, cold and hot starts are instant,

engine has over 1k by now id say...QUOTE]

This is probably why you throw the seals. Sounds like you where beatin the motor without a good break in period

Let me rephrase....

Its sad that the car didnt perform on the rotary as well as it could.. As for the V8, I have really never bashed them. Looks like it will be alot of fun..
