1 week!
here's my little story.
i got a good deal on a '87 TII, the owner said he had some overheating problems and i was expecting to have to go through the motor anyways. well i towed it home and checked the coolant, it was fine so i took it for a drive and it drove perfect.
i decided to just drive it until i had problems, so 1 week to date i pulled into a gas station near my house to pick up a pack of smokes, went out to the car and tried to start it, it acted as though it was flooded. so i went home to get the set up plugs i bought for it to do a minor tune up later on and threw them in and did the whole EGI fuse bit, remove it crank it install it sputter, rinse and repeat until i got it running. white smoke for days!
well i guess it was the deal i expected, not the great deal i thought i had gotten but i still wub it.
but all in all there is good to be had with the bad, now i get to do the streetporting i had planned on doing when i bought the car.
now i have a question, i looked around but didn't really see any rebuilding guides. anyone know any places where i can find info on the rebuild?
i was expecting to just do the port work and reseal it and check for cracking or galling, i heard the original apex seals are the best and the car ran perfect until this incident, even on the way home billowing out clouds it ran fine(light on the throttle of course.) so i guess im just asking what to expect since this is my first FC.
thanks in advance if you have any input.

www.atkinsrotary.com has a rebuild video that goes through it with you. Buy that and a rebuild kit and ask questions on here as you go. You will be good to go.

I have a bad habit of failing to look at post dates. This one had me going until I saw him ask about any rebuild guides. I thought, "Why is he asking about rebuild tutorials?" And then I looked at the date and realized how he got his beginnings. Awesome stuff.

it's the bitches that'll get'chas.
i do still have the car, have put about 60k more miles on it.
reworked about 300 other RX7s since this post.
when i saw this, i was scratching my head because i knew i hadn't posted a new thread recently...

we all have noob posts, hell that motor wound up having 2 eroded rotor housings which took 3 attempts to figure out. since then the motor had been apart a dozen times as an R+D test subject to learn tuning and the do's/don'ts that were not documented early on which i have passed on from my trials and errors.
this is the same car i have on the banner of my homepage, which is in my garage at the moment. we've been through alot together.
i still have that old atkins VHS tape floating around in a box somewhere.
at least the car gave me a week, i know it was hurting from the cancer that was eating it up inside but it still pulled it all together and did the job a little longer to put a smile on my face before it couldn't take it any longer. now it's a struggle to keep all the drivetrain mounts in one piece as it tries to peel off the 275's in the rear up to 90mph, haven't done a modification to the car in over 3 years, motor hasn't been apart in at least 6 years.
those 2 rotor housings have been used as templates to paint irons for that long also. too bad about the electrolysis, the chrome is perfect on those 2 series 4 housings.
still have plans on fitting the supercharger for the twin charger setup but i'm going to pull the motor out and pin it and run 3mm goopy seals before the boost goes up once again.
