Whats it worth ?

Hey everyone, I am contemplating selling My 88 GXL 2+2.I paid 3,200 for it in 2003. Its got 178,000 miles on the chassis, but only 45/50,000 on a completely new engine and transmission. (That was done in 1997). It was repainted sunrise red in 1999. In the last 2 years I have replaced every clutch component, replaced all the brake calipers/rotors/master cylinder etc, and restored the tail lights. Leather interior also. Its got a few small dings, and 2 small rust spots(one can be seen in the 2nd picture in front of the rear wheel). Clean Title. Runs great. All stock.

Here are a few pictures. Please give me any honest input, I don't know what a good price is and I don't think KBB's 3300 is anywhere close to what I could get for it. . . thanks in advance.

It's pretty clean, and I assume the interior is as nice as the exterior. I don't think 3k would be asking too much. 2500 would be a minimum. Let's face it, it's getting harder and harder to find clean, unmolested FC's these days. The question is what it looks like today. I see those old TN plates!

Actually the pictures were taken 3 months ago. The old plates are due to the emission testing, which I failed (I drove with expired tags for 2 years without getting caught). I have since replaced the air-pump and had that taken care of. It will pass emissions now. Its a secondary car, I have put maybe 100 miles on it in the last 6 months.

Edit: The interior is not quite as nice as the exterior. The drivers seat needs to be reupholstered, but the passenger and rear seats are perfect it has the rubber surround from the S5's. Couple small burns, stains. I'd give the inside a B-

Also, I would be interested in a equal trade for a specific item. A KYMCO people 150cc scooter 05+. Thought I'd throw that out there just in case.

I'd say a good solid $3000 in the paper. I've found that RX7 enthusiasts low ball what its really worth. You'd get $2000 out of someone on RX7club and $3000 out of someone who has never owned one.

$2400-3000.

Thing is, no one will pay it because they can get a project TII starting around that price. I'm trying to sell mine right now (see link in sig) and even with a new motor and other stuff, I still have not gotten a bite on it. At all. I don't really want to drop the price again as I put a lot of time and money into the car, but it's getting near the end of the month and I don't have rent. So, someone might get an FC with a rebuilt motor for $1800.

Anyways, I think the KBB overestimates it's prices a bit.

The price is set in stone by us rx7 owners and in my opinion an umolested n/a fc should be worth atleast $6k and say unmolested t2 about $8k. I would be happy with the prices then. I know the prices for t2 are right around $8k here in canada. I can't believe how much you guys sell perfect t2's for. Here in canada a perfect n/a is the price of an american t2, $4k ish.

To the op, I would say your car is worth atleast $6k considering the paint and everything is done.

If I got 6,000 , I'd do a back flip. In reality I'd be happy with 3,000. I'll post some interior pics tomorrow.

Thank you everyone for your help !

Thanks,

Supposedly, every thing on the car is stock. Including the leather interior, steering wheel, and spoiler. Funny thing is. . . The spoiler is a simple unpainted black S4 turbo spoiler, and the steering wheel is like the S5's. Car-Fax is clean of any accidents.

The original owner I bought it from said he bought it at the showroom as is, and never changed anything. . . But everyone on here tells me thats impossible. So, I don't know. Either way, its got a turbo spoiler and an S5 steering wheel.

If anyone else have any questions about the car feel free to ask.
