Too bad he's moving, because in germany it'd be really really cheap to have a rotary registered !
Because you pay among other things according to displacement.
So a Turbo FC is cheaper than some 60HP cars

Here in austria we pay according to HP.
But it'll get alot cheaper when a car is older than 20years, because then you can register it as an oldtimer if you have a non-oldtimer registered too.
I have a 83' Mazda 323 BD registered for 350€/year,...that's awesome
My FC will be 20 this summer too

sorry for offtopic

"you don't have to:

-perform valve jobs
-replace valve seats
-deal with timing chains/belts
-machine heads
-machine block
-bore/hone cylinders

...when you rebuild a rotary"

Damn straight. No rod bearings to spin. No valves to hit if you **** up setting the cams or the timing belt. No belt tensioner to go out and cause your valves to get hit. I could go on and on. I hate doing rod/crack bearings and i hate doing valves. I always loose retainer locks and **** like that thinking they fell inside the engine FREAKING the **** out and then tearing it back down only to find out i A) should have assembled the head BEFORE putting it on the block and B) dropped said retainer underneath a cam or somewhere else.....

I love my rotary. I do want a few more engines to tinker with. If i dont sell my six port after buying a turbo II, im teaing it down and putting it back together (cryo treated seals PPort fully balanced....etc.

Sorry for the hosed punctuation. Mom spilled coffee on the keyboard.

In most countries, including in the Dutch mountains, you need to get registered if you wanna use a foreign car for more then 14 days in another country. So me being Dutch and living here would make it virtualy impossible to drive a Ferman car.

Here in austria we pay according to HP.

You guys seem to have a system very simmilar to ours. Old Timers over here are 25 tho for the tax, after that they are tax free. Oldtimer insurance is often from 20 years or 25 years, but just like in Austria you need a daily drive non-oldtimer car. Plus you can only drive a limited amount of KM's... To bad my TII is '91... Nah, I don't mean that, I love my S5!

I hate not having a decent cup holders. Ive burned my ***** with starbucks on more than one occasion. Anyone ever see a dried up coffee stain?? No bueno

As for gas mileage I get KILLER gas mileage on the hwy. On a trip to reno i got about 25mpg doing 100-125!!!! And the OEM engine had 230xxx on the ticker.
For contrast I rented a HybridCivic on an earlier trip to reno and it returnd 28MPG but shitbox couldnt do 90mph. Ill take my 7 over a hybrid ANYDAY

Sounds like there was something really wrong with the Civic Hybrid. It's not a car that I like, but I did happen to drive one for about a week. I was able to just manage 50 MPG and I don't doubt it would do 90 MPH.

I hate the smell of rotary exhaust fumes making my eyes bleed and clothes stink.
musty interiors,
cheap plastic interiors,
I hate the way Mazda poorly engineered the pinion mount on the differential

Also I agree with everything here:

DTSS is annoying when it goes out. Rat belts and the fun at the dealership that ensues when getting them replaced. Having to have a VIN when I get parts at a dealer, not a FC thing just annoying.
There is not much I hate about the FC chassis. I think some of the owners should DIAF, and I dont like the OMG is that a 944.

Apex seals, Brittle plastic pieces, Sunroof, Battery issues, Gasoline smell, windshield wiper fluid system, every part for a TII is a pain in the *** to find and a new one breaks every other week, Aftermarket parts are in limited quantity and hardly look flush.

I hate the fact that all of you guys hate things about the car I love. I hate this thread. I love every car I have ever had except that 79 Z28 I bought brand new and then sold 6 months later to buy my first Japanese car. I love catching guys in Hondas, Nissans, and other Mazdas break their necks to see my RX7 going down the road. I love RX7s!

Bah, go fly a kite, I hate that it doesn't have cup holders. It's got two bootleg cup indentations in the glove box, not enough. I took the ash tray out of the 240 so I can slip cans in there. DD's need cup holders, don't care what it is. If you DD a Nascar, it better have room for the morning coffee.

I also hate OMP lines.

The plastic pieces are only brittle due to the age. The S5 surround is pretty resilient compared to the S4, but if you leave it in the sun it gets roasted. Sun is the #1 enemy to your interior pieces.

Trying to drift with your glovebox down and a 44 oz Dr. Pepper being retained by half an inch deep hole takes skill.

I don't like how our cars are basically a 944 clone.

But it helps me rest well knowing that our cars still look way better, and perform better too =D

I hate the fact that my previous owner was a ricer boy and spray painted the ******* taillights! I do however give him props on the corksport headlight duct. (I have since then converted my tail lights to s5. s5=pure sex.)

I love the fact that a v8 mustang wanted to race me and I blew his doors off at the next red light. Silly american pies.

And the fact that everybody at the local meets say stupid stuff like "Dude that thing must have a mean cam!" I reply with "I just got done bridgeporting." They say "Whats that?" Then I realize I was surrounded by rice rockets and took off knowing I wasn't in a good place for car guys.

Edit: About the cupholder thing... Why don't you get one of the plastic ones you can clip to your window lining? Or you can get a vent cup holder.

Here is New Zealand 98% of fc are turbo, only have grey or black interior. I have never seen a broken door handle.

Yes a cup holder instead of a cup shelf would be handy but I am sure i will survive.

Also would never ever be hassled by a honda owner here.. they have no respect at all..

That said:

*Diff is a pain in the *** to remove
*Can't seem to make it quiet so attract unwanted attention

See my dual oil-cooler thread for a fix for that

Merti-pack 150 series connectors my friend. Cut the wire and splice in two of those connectors and never have to deal with that again

I don't care if it was said before, I am not going through 3 pages of posts.

The fact that a part does not fit right after you take it off for 5 minutes.

Oh, and the owners.

I HATE the stock ECU, the fact that you have to go standalone and spend $1000+ to be able to run a bigger turbo safely. Also the vane AFM but it pretty much goes with the ECU.

my big complaint isnt bout the car its about how cheap the community is, and thats the main reason the FD's get more attention is cause nobody (not everyone but the majority) wants to put anything that may cost more than 500 bucks onto the car. and as long as the majority has that attitude the FC will always be looked upon as the black sheep of the RX world crap most guys would rather have broken parts instead of actually paying a little more for something nicer. these cars have lots of potential interior, exterior, engine mods/options they may not all exist, simply cause the FC drivers boo everything away, cause of price mainly, crap, the main reason to buy a older cheaper model is to be able to afford the better options of the aftermarket world. But, mods like that wont happen til FC owners decide to open up a lil bit and spend some money. Seeing the way some people act about companies coming in to make parts, if i was a company, i wouldnt, this place has alot of negativity.

Ah, maturity at it's finest. I point out a mistake and you call me an *******. Further proving my point about the latest crop of douchebag owners. I know you're 20 years old and therefore SHOULD have the education that allows you to KNOW the difference between "know" & "no." Having a nice life of being looked at as some retarded degenerate
