In the mountains in doesn't matter what you have, my 101 whp fc was only 3 seconds behind my friends 480 whp fd with 315s in the rear. On the straight aways I never raced anyone, cuz I know i'd lose to almost everything. N/a's are very slow, but still are fun. Now that I'm turbo, the doors have really opened on the possibilities of my car. Can't wait til next season!!!
Sorry for the irrelevant post.... I'm bored at work.

Unless you have a rhd car, there is no speed limiter. Its just called running out of power...
And, what are you thinking going that fast on public roads?
In the spirit of the tread, had a guy absolutely not believe me that my car was from the 80's lol. 7's age gracefully.

Haha I couldn't stand those little spanish dudes, they were so annoying! But you're right, most of history's decent sports cars aren't that fast, and usually are really high priced for no reason lol

Lol, umm, yes he was. This is all time trials. I'm talking about months of us going to the same mountain pass two times a week, running the same lap at least five times a night, riding with eachother to help eachother find the best race lines, etc. So yeah, after months and months of running this one course, he ended up with a 2:22, and I was at a 2:25 with my n/a. Sorry to disappoint you but hp has nothing to do with mountain runs... it's all about maintaining speed with using the least amount of friction on the tires as possible.

Yeah, the road is one way, and it was usually around 2am, so not too many joggers, lol. So the worst we have to worry about is deer... which is scary when you see one coming around a corner!
And, this pass is a loop so there's no uphill corners, lots of rollers, s turns, and hairpins tho. If we raced up Gold Camp then yeah, he would smoke me... maybe. I know the **** out of that road too. Been drivin on it since I was 15. (I once lead a bunch of 240's up the road, the one behind me had an RB26. When I got to the top, I flipped a bitch, parked in reverse. Turned the car off, and got out, before we saw the headlights. I did have road knowledge on him, even tho he said he "knew the road.") That being said, I could smoke myself if I was in his FD, which I've asked many times to do, but for some reason he won't let me illegally race his car up this sketchy road... wonder why???

Lol, no it's on the west side. It goes up Cheyenne Mtn. So if you're on Nevada (Main Street of C.S.) You head south to Cheyenne Rd and take that west all the way until you're in the mountains. There are 4 different turn offs at the end. All the roads right there are really fun to drive! But Gold Camp Rd is the one on the far right.

Me too! Although since I was 3, I lived on the mountain. Went to Cheyenne Mtn. Elementry, Cheyenne Mtn Jr. High, and believe it or not, CMHS!

Odd, in my N/A I have absolutely no power coming out of sharp uphill corners and I would lose at least several seconds a turn to sheer power alone if I was racing. Thats not even mentioning how much faster I could take turns with 315s in the rear instead of 205s. The combination of 50% more tire on the road and having 4 times the power would lead me to believe that you may just be a much better driver than your friend.
That being said, please don't injure a bystander.

^^^ Lol, thank you! Do you ever have those days where you feel like the only person with a brain!!! Cuz I'm having one of those days for sure! *Work related... not going there, haha*
My friends 480 hp FD - 295s up front, 315s in the rear. 2 min 22 sec
My 101 hp FC - 215s all around. 2 min 25 sec
About the same tho in suspension mods. My point being, on technical mountain runs, it's about being a smooth operator , not about the amount of power.

Also, how the hell is yours 101? (about the same as my civic) Is it just time taking its toll?

Lol, high altitude is mainly the reason. It was a rebuilt motor, just n/a, stock engine, with an intake and exhaust. Dyno'd 101 to the wheels, with 115 lbs/tq. The Turbo II that dyno'd that day was in the low 140's. I'm definitely curious to see what my swap will put out, once I'm finished with everything.
