I've been wanting to buy a shell to swap my stuff into since my car is rusty as hell, but my dad thinks every single FC on Earth is in exactly the same shape and is hell bent on bondoing the **** out of this one and calling it done. It's pretty gay.

And the appropriate answer is "And what you have here is a glorified high-school dropout who thinks the ability to change dented fenders on a car means that his opinion and his life have value."

Or merely "Oh I'm sorry, I thought someone here might know something about cars, I'm obviously mistaken, maybe the next body shop on my list will be better"

My old auto tech teacher used to call my 7 the "airplane" because they used to put rotary's in planes before because of their good hp/weight ratio.

I was at the gas station about 3 or 4 days ago filling up on gas. I was putting the oil in my tank when out of nowhere, I see a hand grab the oil container and the guy that grabbed it, pulled it out of my tank and threw it across the gas station lot. He then continued to tell me that putting oil in my gas tank is going to kill my car.

I guess its not that bad of a first experience at a gas station premixing.

Well, after I explained to him why I was premixing, he apologized, gave me 5$ and went on his way.

Didn't even have to explain to him what a rotary was, just that I had to premix because of a bad oil metering pump.

Some people down here actually understand rotarys, I think its nice that I don't get the blatant retard questions... Although the 100's of honks and thumbs up's every day does start to get annoying... It's not that rare of a car...

Yea. I used to get stares aaaaall day in my bone stock white 91 coupe. People in cars and on the sidewalk. Everybody seemed to be confused. even before the loud *** exhaust setup. i remember like the third day i owned it i was gettin some bk going through the drive through and one of the kids who worked there on break was smoking a toge outside. he just stops and bends down towards the driver side window.

"holy ****! uhh.... is that an Rx-7??"

I was like yeaaa.....and then just quietly laughed to myself as i drove up to the window

he was lookin at it like it was such a rare car

Yeah I get a honk occasionally, a LOT of stares from the young HS guys as I drive by the places they hang out, and my DD 7 is a piece of crap, when my GXL is done it will be like looking at ugly betty and carmen electra.

You and your 'teacher' are confused. The WANKEL rotary in your car and the 'rotary' in the airplanes he is speaking of are two entirely different things. The aeronautical rotary he is thinking of is actually a piston engine with the cylinders placed in a circular configuration on a common crank. That is NOT the same thing...

no they actually used rotary engines in planes....they found that there better because theres alot less vibration and if the engine blows you can still land the plane because a rotor blowing is never horrible to anything but itself

Yes, they HAVE used wankel rotaries in planes before, but it's not common compared to what most people imagine when they think of airplanes and rotary engines. Go ask some random person off the street...it'll prove my point.
