start on the show, in the meantime collect your parts and rebuild and clean everything the right way so your swap is really clean and of a high quality.

As you stretch the parts buying out over time you will be able to spend a little more on it and go for quality rather then just getting it done.

When you have everything ready to go take the car off the road and do the swap right, when its done your car will truly be show ready.

So much for calling ALL coil-overs ****. Now for the OTS stuff 99.99% of FC owners will buy; yes it will never be ideal. On the other hand: yours probably won't be either. What it comes down to is that in the end all those low-end OTS coil-overs are good enough for most FC owners.

BTW: In your perfect coil-over free world? What would all those serious drivers have to race with? Koni custom valved double-adjustable struts?

Riz.
I agree with you, in that a purpose-designed coilover would be the best solution, but how many FC owners have you seen running custom made Bilsteins or Penskes? For readily available aftermarket OTS stuff, it's been proven the Koni's outperform the majority in terms of predictable adjustability.

I think the point trying to be made is that people say that something is good without having any empirical proof that it is, it's all based on "feel" and "opinion." Can anybody vouching for their FC's coilover setup give physical proof as to why it's better then a koni/GC setup?

At least those articles have factual information in them, not "These coilovers are the **** because I put them on and feel faster."

If that was the case, everyone would be buying E-bay vortech generators and diamond fire spark plugs, because "They make my car feel faster"

The best way to sum it up is on farnorthracing.com, some people are fast despite their setup, not because of their setup.
That's not what I'm saying at all, but you summed up my thoughts exactly when you said "some people are fast despite their setup, not because of their setup."

I'm saying that 99.9% of people don't care, and shouldn't care, about running optimal spring rates and properly damped shocks. The fact is, that great majority of drivers simply aren't sensitive enough to a car's setup to make it worthwhile. In the end, its whatever makes you happy that matters - whether that means knowing that you've got the absolute best suspension setup to make your car the fastest it can be, or knowing that you've got a nice, flashy package that lets your car go really low and feel really stiff.

In most cases, both types of owners are the exact same people, and its hypocritical for all the competitifags to talk down to people who use a coilover setup.

Yeah, true enough. My only peeve is that if I was to be buying a coilover setup, it's advertised as being adjustable, and high quality, and all that other good stuff, yet the systems out there don't do everything they claim, or at least not as well as they claim.

Maybe I just find some comfort in knowing that if a real driver was to get in my car they'd be able to tell!
