I approve of the concept and can assure you that it works, mine's been set up exactly like that for three years now.

There's really no need, nor any advantage, to running the intake all the way across the rad to site the filter where the overflow used to be.
Stick it right as the tube transitions into the nose area and you'll be fine.

Clearly, you've been scouring the junkyard, there are plenty of shorter rubber snorkels to be had. Fords in particular have been a rich source of rubber intake widgets...worth a look.

i picked this intake because of the hole it already has to run a hose to the air pump and not have a separate air filter. but i will see as this intake is 3" 1/2 thick and the hole where you cut has about 2" 1/2 wide. but i will try and make it work. oh and i took this from a cavalier but forgot to measure. never bothered to look at fords though my junkyard is not organized i found a rx7 fb in the chevy and chrysler section

Still has the AC condenser and everything. Just waiting on my MSII v3.0 to be finished, and an HKS SSQV. (And a few other small things here and there )

Because it now sits directly underneath the scoop in my vented hood... max airflow effeciency
My piping will now be only about 30cm, so response should be sick

^ I highly recommend these. My capacitor was reading 13.6 volts before and 13.9 after, plus they look cool.
