Nate's T70 TII swap build

Well I had a Vert that I was going to build, but it needed alot of work and lots of body work. Then I found this nearby me for a great price, and it will be much cheaper in the long run to build this, rather than piece together the other car that was missing alot. Anyways I got all the TII stuff from my old car, which most of you know what happened to that. https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-non-technical-pictures-198/i-really-hate-deer-874865/

So here's what I got:

87 base model, only option it has is A/C(original window sticker has shipping weight at 26xx lbs). Its complete except for the motor being pulled out. Body is very straight, no previous accidents. Previous owner took good care of it. Main problem is it has a bit of rust, but not anything too bad.

So my plans right now are Master Power T64 turbo, haltech/microtech, supporting mods, V-mount intercooler, GReddy exhaust, TII drive train, gauges, eagle alloy rims, and some sort of suspension(undecided on that yet).

Still completely unsure on what I'm doing with the exterior. I already ordered a Shine panspeed style vented hood, corksport vented headlight lid, and authentic amemiya cone mirrors. I probably will run a S5 front bumper with lip, and for sure an after market spoiler, and most likely keeping the S4 tails on it. I already have a set of 17" eagle alloy rims also. My original plans were sunrise red, but for some reason I really like the blue interior in this(its very clean), and red exterior would look weird with a blue interior. So I'm wanting to paint it either blue or white. Right now I'm thinking of BMW montigo blue.

Anyways, as far as progress goes on it, I got the radiator and A/C pulled out, and got my nardi classic steering wheel in. I'm laid off right now so I won't be buying too much until I start working again(got to love this economy...).
Here's some pics:

Well, a bit of a update, I got the drive train pulled out, dropped the sub frame, and started attacking the rust. It was actually cleaner than I expected. I started wire brushing most of the rust underneath the car, and started to undercoat the crap out of it too. I got the passenger side under body done(which was the easy side). the driver's side is worse, and needs a little patch work on the rear floor board. I'm going to replace all the bushings in the sub frame, and wire brush/undercoat it.

No more pics, even though I had the camera there. More updates to come.

Wait, here's a pick of my work space, and the motor that's going in the car...

Well got the TII seats in, and worked on the rust. Got it all cut out and just about ready to weld in patch panels. You southern guys better realize how lucky you are not having to deal with rust.

Within the next couple of days I'll get the subframe out of the vert(one of the parts cars) and put that in this one. The vert subframe is alot cleaner, and already has the 5 lug on it. Then I'll get the front 5 lug stuff on too.

here's some more pics.

Got the rust all patched up within the last few days. Also got the complete suspension(besides struts) out of the vert to put in this. After comparing the suspension components out of the vert and this car, I noticed that the vert's looked beefier, and was in far better shape, and of coarse already had all the 5-lug attached to it. Also spent some time on starting to paint my motor.

Just got my polyurethane suspension bushing kit from Racing Beat today. Pics will be up when I fix my camera.

Yeah I knew the brakes were the same, but not the rest of the suspension. It was a nice surprise.

Started on the bushings today, and after 2 hours and a lot of swearing, I didn't make much progress lol. I'm going to source the right tools, and hopefully it will go smoother.

Got the rest of the under body rust eliminated and fixed today too!

Have you read up on the vert front subframe swap? I heard theres a lot more to it than most people expect. I'm not knocking you or saying you can't do it - in fact I'm hoping you do with good picture documentation - just making sure you're on track.

And about the vert and TII suspensions being the same - what exactly do you guys mean by that? The shocks/struts?

By the suspension being the same, I mean all of it except the rear spring rate. The verts are a little stiffer than the TII. The only differances in the brakes, suspension, and rear gear, are the rear spring rate, and the vert doesn't have limited slip. Same rear gear as the Tll without the pos.

Finished up painting the TII short block the other day. Also cleaned the tranny up good and clear coated it with high heat clear coat.

My panspeed style hood just came today from Shine, it looks great! Test fitting it tonight.

Also, my camera has died for good, and I found out my phone takes pretty decent pics for a phone... So until I get another camera the pics won't be the best quality.

That is all for now, more updates to come.

^Yeah seeing your motor painted helped to push me towards blue/black.

Got the hood mounted, need to adjust it a bit yet.
Here's some more crappy pics:

Yeah painted it without taking it apart. It was a pain in the *** but turned out well. I spent more time cleaning it than anything.

Finally got a photobucket account, so I can post pics without uploading them. Got the 5 lug rear sub frame undercoated and in today.

Got the poly bushings in, all the suspension in, hood lined up, short block and trans in the car, and the Turbo dif in.

A bit of an issue came up, as I had to move out of the garage I was working on the car at, now its in a shed on my dad's farm. Hoping to find a garage to rent within a few weeks. I'm kind of low on money right now too, my only income is my part out. The company I was laid off from is not in a hurry to hire anyone back, and there is barely anyone hiring in my area. So once I get a better source of income and a garage, progress will be made much faster than it has been so far.

Here's the pics:

I hated that color at first, but it has grown on me alot...

Oh and BTW, the pics make the paint look twice as good as it. Has some hellish clear coat peeling going on on the roof.
