Unhappy I Really HATE Deer

Well, a few hours ago, I was taking the 7 out and was coming back to the shop and I was just a half mile away from getting there. I came over a hill about 60-65, and right on the other side of the hill was a deer just standing there in the middle of the road. So I nailed the brakes(first instinct) which made the car go sideways a bit, I let off to straighten it out and at the exact moment the deer ran right into my path and I smoked the deer with the front left fender. Somehow hitting the deer threw me really sideways, the car shot down into the ditch(which had a embankment on the other side of it) the car hit the embankment, rolled up it, took out a fence, and continued to roll 4 more times down the hill.

It really sucks because the car was going to get put away for the winter next weekend. However, I'm very thankful me and the passenger walked away with just cuts and bruises. The passenger was not wearing his seatbelt, so by some miracle he is still in one piece. I was very impressed with how well the roof held up for rolling 5 times.

I have full coverage so once the insurance stuff goes through I'm buying my car back and buying another shell and swaping everything I can (TII motor/drivetrain, etc) into it.

It sucks I killed such a nice, clean TII, but I'm just going to be optimistic about what I can build now. Thanks for reading, pics will be up tomorrow. Please don't hate or flame, I feel shitty enough already lol.

Here's some before pics:

Glad to hear you and your passenger are ok. Now pics of it after you rolled it! By the way I despise deer very much, they are just the stupidest animals ever.

Good to hear that you made it out in one piece. I hit one last weekend in my winter beater ('92 Ranger). I almost took one out May 2008 in my FB doing ~85 on I-96, just west of Lansing, MI. It jumped at my b-pillar, cleared my hatch, and hit the side of a Ford Freestyle. They're scary *******. I just wish that state governments would allow hunters to take more of them out with bullets.

I think I heard somewhere that the proper reaction to a deer, is to turn your lights off, and brake as fast and safely as possible (the noise scares them off - but the lights blind them) which is why they don't move out of the way.

Thanks for the comments guys. Honestly, if I wouldn't of swerved, I would of smoked the deer head on and it would of probably went through the windshield.

Pics will be up after I get off work tonite.

At least you and your passenger (lucky as ****) are ok.

Those animals have horrible death wishes. My dad hit a dear in maryland a few years back in a 1970 delta 88 Oldsmobile (built like a german battle tank).

That ******* thing bent the core support, hood, fender, and bumper.

They are like hitting hairy walls. Good call on swerving.

Sucks about the car though.

A few weeks back I had just got my fc to start after it had been flooded for awhile so I decided to go and have a little fun. I came around a curve going up-hill and saw a deer on the side of the road, the middle of the road, and the other side of the road. My brakes are shot so I said **** it and pushed them sending my car sideways. I then managed to slide between them on the left side of the road, went to the nearest gas station and bought an instant lottery ticket. No dice on the ticket, but my fc is still clean . Kentucky reintroduced deer here after they had killed them all; now there are deer accidents all the time. F-ing Kentucky morons.

I've heard that if you nail the horn, and rev the motor, you're car is no longer some strange light, but a scary loud demonic light coming at the deer. Supposedly they get spooked and actually stop looking at you, and run! However, nobody usually thinks that fast. I hit a deer once... in my friends dads car.

Thanks for the comments...

Yeah I usually honk at deer but I had no time. I came over the small crest in the hill and it was right there.

And I just found out today that my insurance company most likely does not cover the passenger, who has medical bills for getting checked out at the hospital. Apparently FULL COVERAGE only means partial coverage now. Its turning into a big mess. With this and other small things that have happened, I would advise everyone to stay away from State Farm Insurance.

On a side note, I want to buy the car back as I stated before, but the insurance company "has to ship it" to there processing center. So the car has to get shipped to either Chicago or Moline, IL. I talked to my towing company and they said that if the owner of the vehicle wants to buy it back, the car will usually just stay at the towing company and the insurance company will send someone out to access it.

So this is just being a huge pain in the ***, and we haven't even got to the point of agreeing on a settlement yet-that should be a nightmare too.

But thanks for hearing me rant, here's more pics. In the last pic, the car rolled over top that fence post. scary.

Oh and on the bright side, it still starts and runs!!
