Yes, the vert crossmember/brace was what I was referring to.

Well, if you're attaching to the subframe and body everything should be good then ^_^
[Normally on a vert if you remove that you'll eventually get distortion in the body.. The stupid local exhaust shop took it off when I asked them to put a Pacesetter header on ~_~ had to swap for RB..]

Gainesville, FL...

I literally drove back, hopped out of one car, into another, and to the track.

Soon as I get the chance, I'll post the pics of the last bit of my car... New wheels, Seats, cage and harnesses (6-point, tab-lock, on the driver and the passenger gets a cam-lock 4-point).

Gonna post my S5 vert seats (WITH WORKING HR SPEAKERS!!!) and HR amp, in the FS section, too... Mebbe my OEM, BBS, wheels, as well, but Meh.

That crossmember and mounts is pretty scary looking. Welds dont look very structural and thats not a lot of metal there to support the engine torque that the engine will put on the mounts. I guess its working for you right.now but if it were me, id take that back out and add some more metal bracing from the crossmember to the mount (one weld might seem strong but it isnt really). I can see that snapping on the.first hard launch you take, if it lasts that long. Otherwise that swap looks good, but that crossmember doesnt look safe.

Just my .02 though. Keep up the good work.

i dont think i said that jagger, besides that is what i did lol and i was thinking the same thing matt. I am feeling kindof sketchy about that i still got to do some more work to it. When i pull the engine out again, i was wanting to reinforce it abunch more. i really dont want it snapping on me. I just wanted to get it in. Now that i have it in i am going to fine tune everything. I am trying to think of another mount design where i can get to the mount bolts easy. Now that i have that one in I can see things a little differently and see what needs to be done.

Sorry, here in Canada, a welder is a trained person who went to school to learn how to weld and fabricate...which I did, so I guess I get easily offended by poor welds, even if they are by an amateur haha.

Also, looks like it sits quite a bit higher than mine, did you check hood clearance?

I am going to do the bar then add supports to it and the welder here that is helping me is pretty good. He also told me about different types of steel, such as cold rolled and hot rolled and carbon amount, he told me to get cold steel cuz it is stronger. And i dont want to drill and tap it at all.

Hahaha...wow. Im very surprised that can hold up the engine.

Was that done with a 110 volt stick welder or something? It's obvious a shielding gas wasn't used...and the welds don't look like they got very much penetration. Please throw that **** in the garbage and have something proper made.

Motor is sitting way 2 high,on my one FC i drilled and tapped the center iron to accept factory S5 oil pan and engine mounts(went with the real skinny solid mounts)and i cant even fit a finger between the front cover and steering rack(Yes it sits that low)Did you checked your hood for clearance? How are you planing to run this motor?i see that you still have the factory twins.Turbo 2 tranny or the crappy weird FD setup?

ok ok guys lol i did cut it out just wasnt trusting it, ill redeem myself i promise. I found an fd front cross member for a really good price and im going to weld that up to it or make bolt holes and bolt it to the subframe. I didnt like what i made and yes i am a beginner welder lol way beginning and i used a mig welder, have to up my skills a lot. I was just trying to rush and when i looked at it after i was done, i decided no more rushing and sacrificing quality. Yes it was sitting to high to and im using the fd trans cuz thats what i have for now. Plus my gf just told me we need a break tonight, looks like i only have one gf now lol and she is getting all my attention. Like i said i wont disappoint noone lol.

You might check your local section to see if anyone wants to trade a T2 trans for your FD one. Save a lot of work there..

Weld hot, at least you won't have to worry about penetration or strength. Or take it to a shop and pay the $100 and ahve it professional aha.
Good luck

the spoiler is gone siguy2k lol i didnt like it either and im not going to rush, im just going to try and get it done by the 25th. If it dont happen oh well. Im not going to get a stand alone joey, atleast not right now, im keeping the sequential and i read that the stock ecu does a better job running them then a stand alone. Im going to weld it and if all else fails i will take it to someone jagger but i think i got this lol. And i have checked my local section derekcat but no luck. i was wanting a t2 diff to use or atleast a housing to put the fd gears in. Sorry i responded in reverse lol

Those welds are terrible. Being an amateur is no excuse when your doing a structural weld. You need to have someone teach you how to weld, then practice until you can make a safe part.

so my 7 is getting put on hold for a few weeks, looks like i aint making my dead line. Saturday night i ended up getting my main artery in my left arm cut, the bottom one (forgot what its called). i almost died from losing so much blood, i had blood just draining out of my arm. they told me that if i would have waited a few more minutes i could have lost my left arm. oh yeah i also got the nerve cut thats right next to it. had to get surgery to repair it, not sure how long im not going to be able to work on my car but i hope its not long. i want to go out there and work on it so bad lol im almost tempted to work on it with my arm how it is lol but im not

out at a club drinking and i guess i swung my arm into a glass beer pitcher by accident and shattered it. the doc said there was still glass in it when i got to the hospital. Dont really remember what happened, just know what i was told, but i remember everything after the cut. i remember the pain, the ride to the hospital, and all the blood. my shoes, my watch, my shirt, and my pants were covered in blood, i really lost a lot of blood. im kind of glad i was drunk, or else im sure i would have been in much more pain. i would definitely say im done with drinking, atleast for a while. i dont even drink that much to start with, maybe once or twice a month if that. but im going to heal up and focus on my fc 1000%
