ill have to look into using the t2 trans and diff, especially if it is more durable. Believe im going to need reliable, im going to be drifting the **** out of this car lol (going to as many events as i can make). I have seen swaps where people use the t2 stuff. Just thought the fd trans and diff would be more reliable cuz its the one that came with the car. Also me using that stuff will rely on how easy i can find that stuff in my area. I really appreciate all the input guys.

anyone else start their day off with a cup of coffee and some rx7club , hey rrtec a little bit of my research and this is just the tip of the iceberg lol. Mountain dew and a manual a couple of things needed for pulling and engine.

Research is key... I am still prepping for a REW swap into a 3 series... Maybe a few years from now, I have to find the right shell.

Glad to see you pulled the harness though the firewall and didnt just cut it.. That sucks when people do that. Good start on the project. ALSO- Detail that engine bay before dropping the engine in. Nothing worse then a sweet motor in a junky bay.

This is the state its in now and believe me rrtec i was going to clean the hell out of it. I agree, i would hate myself if i put that beautiful engine into a dirty engine bay. I am taking everything off and cleaning everything and making sure there is no rust or nothing. It will be spotless and i told you i am not doing anything ghetto. It will all be professional.

I pretty much did the same thing to my engine bay today, gettting ready to pull the engine, unfortunately I found out that the battery had leaked for quite some time, eating the metal below.. SO now I have to cut that out, pound in some new sheetmetal, weld it, and then paint.. Which means I will be painting the engine bay vs steam cleaning it..

Question- why are you taking the sheetmetal off?? seems like extra work..

be careful on what u get rid of, i made that mistake and ended up paying for things i had sold without thinking.

Word of wisdom, clean and paint the entire engine bay as best as u can when u get the motor out, If u dont u WILL regret it.

i took the hood and lights out cuz i am going to get a new hood. I didnt realize how heavy it was until i lifted it, way to heavy for my liking. As far as the lights i am making some custom ones and the reason the hood is the shelf is because i figured i could keep all the parts together like that. That was just like that while i was working on it. I put all that stuff up lol so its not a shelf no more. Other then the hood and lights i didnt take off any other sheet metal, just those two things. Sorry to hear that rrtec, my bay wasnt to bad just some light rust in a few spots. But after i get the motor and trans out i am going to go through my bay and clean the living hell out of it, i mean ridiculous clean.......RIDICULOUS!! and thanks for the advice chevy.

quick question guys. I have searched, so dont think im going straight to asking. But what would be a good rebuild kit for the REW? I have seen a few, just not sure what brand to go with. Also does anyone sell one for less than 1000.00 or even at 1000.00? I have been to all the usual sites and i have read peoples different opinions. Just want to know which one is good from experience (kits that are known for having good parts or reliable parts that dont crap out) cuz if im spending a g i want to make sure its good. Also is cryo treating the parts worth the extra?? If you guys dont want to answer and tell me to search i would be more then happy to just the key words i searched under didnt bring up what i wanted, engine rebuild, rebuild kit, rew rebuild, engine kit, gasket kit all were just bringing up swaps. Any help is greatly appreciated guys. ( and yes im still looking and trying new key words)

Factory aluminum hoods are quite light. You should get one of these.

...And no, just no on custom lights. They will never look as good as factory popups. [Especially when they're down]. This leads straight into: don't cut up your nosecone That would be sad kitties! <a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v315/MaoKhan/?action=view&amp;current=494_sad_kitty.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/MaoKhan/494_sad_kitty.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
