I want your opinion
I'm gonna be buying some rims here pretty quick. Haven't decided exactly what I'm getting but have narrowed it down to a ASA AR1 and ADR. I like the mesh design but not to meshy if you know what I mean, so these are perfect. Also haven't made up my mind on 17'' or 18''.
Here's the car its going on, all stock exterior: (best pic I got)

Rim #1:
ASA AR1 black, +35 offset

Rim #2:
ADR, +40 offset

The only thing I'm concerned about is on the ADR the lip looks too huge for a stock body. But yet on the ASA the minus is the outside edge of the rim seems a little slanted. I'm planning on a body kit and lowering it but not yet could happen in a few years.

I like finer mesh from BBS themselves but I understand money can be hard to come by, but out of those 2 the 2nd one has my heart. Roll your fenders and take your time so they'll fit and look good doing it. get the W-I-D-E-S-T rubber you can get though, don't get something a tad bit smaller and stretch to save money. I say get 16s if they make them, if not go 17, call me crazy but I like actually having some sidewall.

I would definetly be going with 17 not 16, anyways I don't think either model makes 16''.

I like the design of the ADR, but the color of the ASA. If you're building a street car, go 18. If you're going to go out on the track regularly, go 17. I don't understand these people and their fascination with body kits. Is it just me that loves stock body with a front lip? Oh well. As I stole it from Ditech.com (or whoever) "It's your car, build it how you need it!"

ASA choices: With 17s I can get 17x7 and 17x8. If I go ASA would you recommend x8? If I went with 18s I have a choice of 18x7.5 and 18x8. Might be going with 18s and if I do then I might as well go 18x7.5 in the front and 18x8 in the rear .... 18x8 weighs in at 23.4 lbs.

ADR choices: 17x7 only. 18s I can get 18x7.5, 18x8.5. There is more listed but anything higher then 8.5 would look retarded imo.

This car is gonna be a dd not a race car, if I wanna go down to the track thats what my stock wheels are for. Although I do want decent size for the rims. Is the difference between 18s and 17s really that drastic? Besides the weight? The way I see it the difference in weight is lets say a maximum of 5 lbs. 5lbs x 4 = 20lbs. To me thats nothing, thats like taking a dumbell and putting it in your car.

I agree that the black ADR doesn't look good it that picture, doesn't mean anything IRL though. And actually, 9 inch rims look awesome with stock body. They don't stick out with the correct offset. 9 inch rim = 165 tire.
And IMO, the front of a car should be the lowest, the middle is middle, and the rear should be the highest with and upward angle. This is from profile view that I'm talking about. That's why I love the s5 body. The front is low and the back is higher. That's just my opinion though.

18's are fine for a dd car. seriously, it's a 1/2" radius. Tire sidewall will affect a dd car the same way. Jesus, 1 inch is not going to make a difference. And if you want to throw the weight factor in, IT's A DD CAR. He will never notice a .5 to 3 pound difference on a street driven car. So save your analisms for the auto-cross track.
Dude, choose the rim YOU think will look the best on YOUR car and **** the rest of our opinions in the ***. What we think isn't going to make your car handle any better or less. Go for the look that you will appreciate the most.

^ Well said ... I've been thinking the same thing. 1 inch really isnt that big of a deal but would probly look better then 17s on a dd. At the same time I'm not really sure what 18s would look like on a stock black body with black rims chrome lip or hyper black. Basically the way I'm going at this now is I'm going to ask my boss to get me quotes on both rims and all sizes then I'll make my final decision.

17x8 +35 or +45 offset? I think thats the plan. If I could I would get x7.5 or x8 in the front with either x8.5 or x9 in the rear. But it looks like they only have x7, x8 available for the t2 bolt pattern of 5x114.3.

Well I found the winner. Wasn't either rim pictured above. I'm going with sport max 006's. 17x8 front, 17x9 rear, +35 offset, 5x114.3. I thought I would go with gun metal instead of pitch black just so that they are easier to see. Black black is tooooo black.

Basically same design as the other rims but nicer and not a fake 2 piece, its actually a 2 piece.
