It's pretty obvious that he didn't. He's gotta mount the flares before he can trim the steel.

this install is NOT for the faint of heart... and NOT a beginner install. If I was charging a customer for this it would be in the neighborhood of $600 just in labor.... PITA

I also welded then inner and outter fender together after cutting... seam sealer, undercoating and a lot of swearing... it came out nice.

This also gave me the opportunity to cut out the only bit of body ruse on the car.

Alex

flares look good... they are mounted MUCH higher than mine... I tried to keep mine below the stock body lines... more like the white car pictured in this thread.

OK trial run... just threw on the wheels to get a good look at it outside the garage and to judge what kinda wheel/tire will fit... these things are HUGE! I have 18x9.5" in the rear with a +27 and I'm going to need to space them out about 2.25" inches to be flush again... mind you on stock fenders they were flush.

I don't know about the 18's. maybe if they were wider they would look a bit better. to me, I think 16's would be the way to go with a stretched tire and the rim lip flush with the flare. we'll see soon enough I'm sure.

I have decided against flares as I am building a show car mostly that will see a little drift action. I think the r magic wide body with my mods to the lines and custom FD bumper will be more visually impressive frankly. looking at the flares on FC's so much, I think I am shying away from the look. idk, it just doesn't have the same feel as a datson or nissan with flares. I can't put my finger on it but the more I look at it, the more it just doesn't look quite right. maybe if sunburn gets those wheels fitted right it will look better.

don't get me wrong, the car still looks good with flares. maybe its just that angled body line that throws it off for me. a lot of the other flared cars don't have that big angled line that goes down the whole car near the door handle. keep posting pics if you find em guys, we need a good flared FC thread anyway.lol

I'm inclined to agree.
Nissans have nothing going for them visually on the sides, there is no styling to speak of, so fender flairs add some pop to an otherwise plain and boring canvas.

That crest that goes along the body of the FC (in addition to making rear quarterpanel bodywork a PITA...) gives the car a unique look, which stock-for-stock a Z or silvia would be hard pressed to match.

That same hard line (and all the other angular styling cues of the FC)however, seems to conflict with the round bubbli-ness of fender flares and make it seem like perhaps the whole is less than the sum of its parts.

All in all I think the car will look great and unique once the wheels/tires are sized properly. But at the same time I can understand why we don't see more FC's w/ flares. Its certainly more work than slapping on a set of fenders, and it doesn't completely transform the look of the car like a z or a 240

For sure, that's why that 1st gen looks so much hotter than any of the other FCs in this thread rofl

the rear flare needs to be more bent around the fender, it looks like its just of place, oh and did you place some rubber in between the flares and the fender?... the flares that i got are flexible fiberglass... the wheels wells on our rx7 isnt as curved on the datsun fenders... where did you get your flares at anyway, if you dont mind asking? MSA?

here is a good link on Hybridz on how to mount them on correctly.

http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=113064

the 240z in the link is Austin Hoke's... he was in turbo mag a few years back

those will look really nice if your getting that exact set. i think a flatblack s13 zenki lip on your car would set it off as well.

Eh, I think that big of a lip would bother me. I just don't like excessive lip.

But it's your car. They would look pretty good, but I think something with less lip and more concave spokes would be better.
