SC Brandon's (that's me) rx7 project

So this nog wants to drift. I bought 2 cars. An se and a gxl. The gxl had some body damage and a broken roll bar end link and i was thinking of swapping all the stuff into the se's chassis. Not easy by any means so i decided to take what i could for the gxl off the se and part out the rest.

Here's the progress.

The ridez

PLASTIC broken end link

The slow and the furiously ugly

The interior in the se was mostly there. The glove box was in the footwell. The gxl's is too embarrasing to post today. Maybe tomorrow.

13 bee injection 10 piston gxl bay shot

The bee hive that makes the 13 bee's to be burned for more power

another bee engine. Also has fire ants and wasps....... Ask 'rotor salvage' about the bees and ants......

Gxl's baller bride steering wheel with hks mounting nuts (was in the car when i got it, i didn't choose it but i like the size over stock). Flip out in dash pyle super deluxe baller status monitor, pilot shift **** jdm hotness with horribly fitted set screws. Wiring nightmare........

Weld-in tein strut bar from the factory at tein where every rx7 is made....... Jdm legitness from the previous owner.

Comments: I'm being completely sarcastic at some points here. If you can't detect it, this is to clarify

Baller oh snap adjustable dapening!?!?!?!?! I press the sport button and it adds 60 bajillion hp! Actually, i can't feel a damn bit of difference.

Offset.

So essentially as of right now, neither car has fenders or a bumper on. The se's motor is long gone. Half the interior has been replaced with parts from under the hood and the gxl has been dubbed "the red door" since it's primmered and has only one door. I dont have a good set of tires between 3 sets of wheels and my brakes need to be bled along with new pads. My trailing plugs aren't fireing b/c the previous owner unplugged them and let them foul. Blinkers dont work. Gase gauge doesn't work. Interior lights dont work.........

The ants in the se still wont die. They're carrying food from somewhere in the car and i dont have any food in it. If i can find the queen the rest of them will leave after i kill her. My guess is she's somewhere in the front pass side unibody, sitting fat making her minions **** my **** up every time i'm on that side of the car.

Buying a car from a junkyard owned by mexicans has it's rewards but also it's downfalls. No keys, no title, rat poop, hacked up wireing harness and deadly serious fire ants..........

Stay tuned for more pics. I'm uploading now and it's going to take a long f-ing time.

Progress:

Useless so far

Pulled and sold

rotor salvage's bad *** rx8. The exhaust note was probably the coolest thing i've ever heard. Supra, skyline......they dont hold a candle to rotary.

The red door as it sits now.

Pile-o-parts

Hi!

seat pulled to make room in the car for more junk......

Showing off my classic enkei look alikes. Lighter is there to show you the dish.

center caps are shot but the rest of the wheel is fine. They are for sale in the se section.

sleepy, heartless, feeling violated by tools and bugs......

It came out in one peice, thank god.

I wonder why the s5 had plastic end links....

Absolute garbage.

Yeah, it's alot of time. Not so much money (yet) but time. I do this to keep me out of trouble. Before cars, i used to get in trouble all the time skating and riding bikes. I'd skate a curb all day long and didn't feel the need to go to a crowded skatepark. Same with my bike. I got thrown in jail twice for it. Atleast if i'm doing this, i'm at home and i'm doing what i love.

Alot of work....pfft. You should have seen my last car. That was ALOT of work and i still wasn't anywhere close to done when i got rid of it. I dont think it's alot of work. I've never bought a mint car though. I buy worthy shitheaps and have my way with them. The only challenge has been learning the car and for me, the only way to learn is to take things apart. Reading and searching doesn't do much for me and **** that haynes repair manual....... It's so grey area it's not even funny.

I'm not doing this on my own, not by a long shot. I've got a good bit of support and hookups from friends and family. Where i live, you're either a low life, an old person or a car builder...there's a few people inbetween. I live in the epicenter of ALOT of racetracks and bump into ALOT of car people that i've made friends with over the years. I'm not relying on them as a crutch by any means but they lend a helping hand when they can. Thats how i got my engine pulled yesterday in 45 minutes instead of an hour and a half.....maybe longer. They brought the hoist straight to my house and we lifted it out.

I didn't pay squat for the primmered fc. I traded my non turbo second gen eclipse for it. I did turbo the eclipse but blew the turbo up, got sick of the project and got rid of it. It was failure after failure after failure with that car. I went through 2 engines, 2 transmissions, overhauled every system in the car, deleted the ps, ac and emessions, full turbo fuel support, monitor gauges, Progress springs, gabriel dampers, had bought 5 turbos for it (some didn't fit, some blew up, some werent worth rebuilding and they were sold) had 3 different exhaust setups.

I paid $1500 for my eclipse and put probably 3-4k into it fixing broken stuff and got sick of a slow, heavy, underpowered fwd car that everyone and their cousin has. It was like driving a civic without the availability of parts. It took me forever to find a shortblock and transmission......

The engine is clean enough to eat off of in the gxl. freshly rebuilt 3kish ago. Mechanically, there isn't anything really wrong with it other than the diff being worn out.

I paid $280 for the red se.

I'm going to toss my friend some money for his vert so i can keep it at his house and take whatever i want off of it and found a tII.

Soooooo it's worth it. I haven't invested alot of money so far and i probably wont invest alot. I'm parting out multiple cars to earn the coin.

You heard right. Daily driven drift car. I was going to build the se up but it's so much easier to do small, low down-time mods on a daily. If i wreck it, there's no shortage of inexpensive rollers in the area to swap my stuff onto.

Alright. My gxl finally has 2 decent doors, 2 decent fenders and an ok bumper......

My part out is going ok right now. I think i'm going with coilovers instead of an lsd first when i raise enough cash. No word on my vert wheels yet. I'm hoping my buddy can come through for me......

Still no door panels (haven't decided what i want to do (thinking of buying some crazy fabric and re-covering them and cutting some backing out of sheet metal since the cardboard-type stuff seems waterlogged on both sets of pannels.

Glass swapped, trim swapped, front bumper held on by 3 bolts and 2 zip ties. Front lips of the fenders also zip tied due to damage done to mounting area that's not worth my time to bang out......

I disconnected both door wire harnesses and cut what i needed to. This is a sports car, not a luxury car. I dont care if the power locks dont work as long as i can get in and out of the car........

Sleepied the headlights..... I like the look, dont bash it. I always hated popups (look-wise) until i saw them half open and thought "hey, that's not so bad now."

Pictures soon.

please de-sleepy the headlights when done with a dual headlight converiong they loook good but with stock lights sleepys are retarted.

Hypertek: I rebuilt that entire car pretty much.

Handle it? It wasn't a factory turbo 4g63t. It was a 420a, same motor found in the dodge neon....140hp, 130tq......at the crank. On 9 psi, it was still slow and boring. But hey, it spooled and made noise between shifts and people thought i was the **** and thought i had a 10 second car. Idiots. When my $50 third hand turbo blew, i got tired of feeding a fwd slug that everyone and their mother had, i got rid of it. I wanted something new and rwd. I wanted a s13/s14 or an fc before i bought the eclipse. I found neither so settled for that car. If you had any idea how much work I put into it, you'd know i could handle it....as tough as it was in a 3000lb fwd car without power steering. Dsm's eat your soul and not in a good way. If i put that money into my fc, it would no doubt be a bad *** car right now.

The eclipse was more or less a waste of time. I wanted to build up my spare block with acl duraglides, eagle rods and je 8.8:1 pistons, 8 injector setup (hahn portfueler), do a small port job/port match on my head and manifolds and then buy a gt35r and shoot for 400hp and an 11 second pass on pump gas. My gf got pregnant and shortly after, i decided that wasn't worth chasing after and i wasn't having fun with the project anymore. It felt like a chore. I'd rather spend more time with my girlfriend than wrenching on my car. I was obsessed with making my eclipse faster. All my friends got sick of hearing about it, my gf especially. Then i thought about the money i spent. Had i just bought a 1st gen awd for around the same price, i could have bought bolt ons and ran 12's, a bigger turbo and dsm link with supporting fuel mods could have easily had me running mid to low 11's.......

I'm having alot more fun with my fc than i ever did with my eclipse. I was excited when i got both of them and i look foward to working on them on my days off from work.

I will not de-sleepy them. That is my preference.
Also, i dont know if anyone noticed but the headlight glass is always perpendicular to the road. ALWAYS. With the ftps removed, i still get good night visibility. I drove (SLOWLY) around the block to see how it was and it wasn't bad at all.

Alrighty. No progress getting done today. I've got to rip stuff out of the se to weigh in for shipping.

Right now, here are my current plans after buying tires and doing the required reliability mods: ****warning, ghetto fabulous mods****

Cut springs and bump stops

welded se diff (just to try it out, if it blows up in my face or i dont like it, i have another diff)

DTSS elim

XTD/FI st2 clutch (before you talk ****, my factory clutch feels hella sloppy, probably overheated and worn. It kicks fine in the wet but not so good in the dry. I can feel it slipping.)

fidanza flywheel

Poly motor mounts

Ebay front strut bar

Prothane/engergy suspension bushing kit

Powerstop rotors

EBC pads

SS lines

TCsportline rear camber arm

Megan racing or mazdatrix tie rod ends

Spacers on rods

Spacers on wheels so they fit flush and widen the track a bit for some more stability until i get some sportmaxes.....

diy short shifter...... I have 3. Why not experiment?

GHETTO!

Rear overfenders, slight roll and pull on the fronts. May or may not get a full kit. It all depends. I'd like to have it but it's not really needed.

Should be snatching up that aluminum hood shortly.

Ebay bucket and 4pt

ebay oil cooler, ss braided lines (-10an probably), front mounted.

Ebay 320mm steering wheel and hub to get rid of that hack and slash mad maxx **** going on that the original owner did.

Everything else can wait until i have more money. I only have to drive 3 miles to work...well 3 miles anywhere. For longer drives, i'll take the gf's car.

I'll get my lsd and coilovers later. IMO, they are not relevant right now and i think i'll be fine for a few months with bandaids.

I bled my brakes yet again and still no pressure so i think i need to rebuild the master and flush the whole system. I'm not leaking anything out of the lines and i'm not hearing air near the master but my instinct tells me to just overhaul everything.

I've got **** to. I'll try to get pics up today of my hooptie as it sits now if i have time.

man you got a lot of work to do bro

good luck i though you were parting all your stuff, and your *** doesnt look old enough to be welding for 10 yrs liar

either way good luck and show us some progress

Cut springs and bump stops-EASY will get u by for a few months

welded se diff (just to try it out, if it blows up in my face or i dont like it, i have another diff)ok too but now the weak link are your halfs shafts

DTSS elim-get it running before investing into suspension mods u r cutting the springs so no need to spend 100 bucks on the dtss get some used springs

fidanza flywheelon a n/a haaa getter running first and light weight flywheel on the street suck *** trsut me i know

Poly motor mountsa must

Prothane/engergy suspension bushing kitheel yeah

Powerstop rotorsgood investment

EBC padsstock pads will get u by just fine why spend 100 bucks on pads when that can go into your car to get her running quicker

Spacers on wheels so they fit flush and widen the track a bit for some more stability until i get some sportmaxes.....worth less on skinnies

diy short shifter...... I have 3. Why not experiment?should of got mines WELDER

ebay oil cooler, ss braided lines (-10an probably), front mounted.stock oil cooler is the best cooling device because of its location, if you go aftermarket you it should be two of them to each side, thenbut you must have a kit that will allow air to vent to them

I'll get my lsd and coilovers later. IMO, they are not relevant right now and i think i'll be fine for a few months with bandaids.-YYUP is the engine running
