1987 RX7 Turbo II has sat for 14 yrs - need help with prelube procedure
Hello RX7 gurus,
I just purchased my very first rotary engine vehicle and am ready to jump in. It's a black 1987 RX-7 Turbo II. The car is all original and is in pretty nice shape. The previous owner stated that the fuel injectors were clogged so he attempted to replace them himself but got in over his head. In the process, some of the wiring and connectors were damaged. I'm am electrical engineer so I'm not worried about the wiring. However, I am worry about the Apex seals and want to do everything in my power to ensure I don't damaged them when trying to turn over the engine. I've done some research and my plan is to do the following:
1) remove all 4 spark plugs and put a few ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil in the plug holes (mainly the leading/lower plugs)
2) remove the upper intake manifold and dump 2 shot glasses of Marvel Mystery Oil down each tube. (if there is a video or step-by-step for this, please let me know)
3) drain the gas, flush the tank and fill with a couple gallons of premix (1oz of tcw-3 2 cycle oil/gallon of gas)
4) drain and flush the radiator, and then fill with 50/50 mix of coolant/distilled H2O
5) let the car sit for a week so the oil can soak into all the seals
6) try to turn the car over by hand using the 19mm bolt on the eccentric shaft. Listen to hear if there are 3 repetitive hisses as I turn the car over
7) repeat the Marvel Mystery Oil in the plug holes and turning it over by hand several times
8) repair any electrical problems, install the plugs and try to start the car
Does this sound like a good approach? Did I miss anything? Any other advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance, and I really look forward to hearing from all the experts in this forum.

Wow, beautiful car. I'm located in Ahwatukee and one of the local rotary enthusiasts. I think you're on the right track. Make sure the fuel lines are disconnected and drained as well as changing out the fuel filter with a fresh Mazda OE one. Put in fresh spark plugs. You should probably change out the coolant thermostat while the system is drained. How many miles on the car? If this will be a weekend "fun car" you can insure it through the AZ classic car program. Qualifying cars are emissions exempt, which is huge. PM me if you have additional questions!
Congrats!!!
