starting an 81 rx7 that has not ran in 4 yrs
Hey everybody im new to rx7s i am an intermediate to master technician who has extensive experiance in gasoline and diesel engines including tractor trailors and heavy equipment but lack rotary experiance. I have just been given a 1981 rx7 gsl car that has not ran in roughly 4 yrs and i am having trouble getting it to run it will turn over but no sputter or anything. Is there any thing i should do for prestarting a rotary motor that has not ran in a long time? i checked spark getting spark to all plugs then went to fuel lines at the carb and their is no fuel (gauge not working) filled the tank and still no fuel in lines to carb. i was wondering if anybody has the wiring diagrams for the fuel pump circuit? ,i did not here the pump ever come on. ive read some posts stating that there were relays in the circuit! but with no wiring schematics im lost please help!
You'll find links to the FSM and wiring diagrams in the 1st gen FAQ.

I found a quick way to check your fuel pump by jumping with power at the connection under the drivers side bin..
If you pull the bin out, the wires that feed the pump are going through the floor there.
I mixed some pre mix and dumped some fuel in the carb and mine started right up after sitting 12 years... A little oil to help the apex seals couldn't hurt....

thanks for page and info i got the pump working now but still no fire i poured strait gas into the carbs yesterday but no fire so ill try premixed. yesterday i also did the deflood precedure pulled all the plugs and added an ounce of atf to the lower spark plug holes, thinkin i may have poured too much gas i could smell it out the tail pipe n still no fire im gonna go get some new plugs this afternoon and and recheck plug wire positions(theres a new cap n rotors) when i checked wires yesterday they were in all different locations from who ever owed it before i was told it had ran prior to parking it?
1. Check for spark at the plugs. Check them for cleanliness and wear while they are out (be a good time to swap them actually).
2. Inspect all ignition wiring to ensure that nothing is switched around (it happens).
3. Drain old gas and replace with new.
4. Add a can of Seafoam to the gas tank, but leave a couple of ounces in the bottle.
5. Pour that little bit of Seafoam that you have left over down the smaller barrels of the carb.
6. Ensure that the battery is fully charged.
7. Start the car.
Work through those steps and post back with what you find out.

Could be lack of compression due to apex seals being stuck. I had the same problem, after pouring 2 bottles of MMO down the carb and hand cranking for a few weeks, she fired right up, now I am dealing with smoking issues.
