Can I buy ported 86-88 upper and lower manifolds from someone here like Dre2000 or Mazdaspeed7 who seem to have this down? I can't do this myself without losing the car for a couple days, the shop is busy. This way I can rip mine off and put the new ones in...I can also give u my stock pieces as 'cores' afterwards if you're interested. Name your price

It's a lot like the one for the dremel (which I will use for final polishing), and is a lot easier to handle.
I want one of those shafts. I adapted one from one of those electric skrew drivers for this porpose because I couldn't find any.
where did you get it?

Angry Air Filter change

The air filter on my 1998 RX7 purchased at 78K was not recommended to be changed by the Dealer who serviced it from 78K to 108K. The Dealer did several oil changes and claim to check with oil changes and at 108K did a maintenance scheduled service and claim from repair notes "they looked at it and it was ok". BUT the second Dealer serviced before and after the 108K service including two oil changes and they claim not to check air filter until they do a service maintenance not with oil changes.

The result now at 126K miles the car is totaled as the air filter was so clogged as to melt the valves etc.

I want to know if anyone has had this problem with their Dealer service department about routine air filter changes? I am not happy to have to replace my reliable RX7 now when I was hoping to keep it until next year when the RX8 came out.

Melt the valves? What valves?

Did they try to change your muffler bearings at the same time?

I think your dealer is trying to cover up the fact that they don't know what they are doing.

Anyone have any dyno results on this mod yet?

jburger,
Thanks for reply. They have done nothing I refuse to authorize $1800 repair on air filter system when they couldn't guarantee the engine had not been damaged. Between the air system repair and a clutch repair which was my expected problem the cost of repairs would exceed the car cost of $4,000 and while I love the RX7 it is easier to get a newer used car on payments then to spend $4,000 cash on repairs with no assurance of how much is needed to get the car road worthy again.

I am angry because I think Dealer service departments on purpose do seemingly innocent fuax pas that force a customer with a paid for older car into a newer car.

I have not ruled out challenging them further but wanted to hear from RX7 owners if this is a trend...

agathaf-

When you click on the link below, you will see a "NEW THREAD" button at the top of the web page. This will allow you to post a new message to the entire 2nd generation RX-7 section of the forum.

In the new message, describe the exact symptoms you are experiencing with your RX7 asking for suggestions as to what may be the real problem. This mat help you to avoid paying for a misdiagnosed problem.

$4000 is far too much to pay for anything shy of a new engine with gold plating.

Click on this link:

and post to the main section of this forum to get more responses.

Regards,
Jason

KMS tools in Canada.

Took it apart when I got it: all ball bearings on the inside, looks really high qaulity. On sale from $50. Keyless chuck on the other end. I was fuggin' IMPRESSED.

I Ported My Manifolds yesterday. I used the Beaver Saw Drill Bit that came highly recommended rather than the puny Dremol I was going to Initially use.

I must say, there was not much room for Porting for the s4 Manifold, as many will agree. I'm going to re-Install It today but I don't expect a huge difference. Although It may prove benificial with my newly tuned electric Auxilliary Port setup...
