Who wants a Custom front anti swaybar for the FC?
I just pulled my front anti swaybar off and I'm headed to the machine shop in the morning to let them know what I need. Since they are going to be bending one of them, its always cheaper to get more made.... so, if anyone wants a custom front antiswaybar for your FC, let me know. I have no clue what they are going to cost.
BTW, Mike, EMAIL ME YOUR ADDRESS!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes if the price is reasonable I might get one, more info please
I was thinking that it might be easier to just block
the stock bar down a bit but have not looked to see if
this would work.
the bar that you are thinking of getting custom made
will it be made straight if so how thick are you getting
it made, if I am not mistaken the stock bar has the bends
in it for 2 reasons, for fit ,, and for a stiffening effect.

I honestly have no clue how much they are going to cost. Thats why I'm going in to talk with the head dude tomorrow. What would you pay for a custom fit one? What do the Racing Beat ones cost? They are about $100 aren't they? How thick should I have it made? I was just going to get prices on the stock diameter of bar, maybe a bit thicker if they don't have this size...
I'm thinking that they will be around $250... but that is a wild guess. I have no clue. Will know more tomorrow.
I'm open for any suggestions on bends and what not. I was just going to have the bends that are there to clear the bolts on the stearing rack straightened out, but retain the rest of the bends, and have it lengthened, but I don't know how far just yet. I haven't taken any measurements.
I'm just testing the waters to see if anyone else wants one.

I'll be honest. I have a friend whos working on a sway bar for my car with the 20B. It will not be cheap, however. We've even considered making bladed sway bars. Price isn't such a big deal to me compared to voerall design. Maybe we should get together and brainstorm in IRC? If you wanted something simple you could just use sprint car parts and make the ends...

I've been discussing this with the shop that will be potentially making mine as well. Our idea was the following:
Use the stock bar as a template (obviously) and make another bar out of...do you guys know what it is made out of? Tubular or is a solid piece?
After we check it for fitment, get the piece heat-treated and it should be fine.
However Kurgan, if I don't have to go through that hassel I'm interested in getting one from a group buy.

I went to the shop today, but the foreman wasn't there. I'll go tomorrow and check it out with him...
please post any suggestions or specification requirements.
btw, its a solid bar, not a tube.

i might be down for one too, oh im back from vacation too. i talked to paul ko about the sway bar thing and he has a speedway setup like what chito has, i kinda want something more stockish. i looked at mine and it needs a lot of spacer (more than 1"), so i dont think that will work well, the end links would end up non- existant

Update
The shop I took it to is a bunch of lazy bastards that doesn't like to use the mandrel bender. anyhow, I'm going to another shop out of town to get my exhaust and intercooler pipes made up, I'm going to take the swaybar with me and see if it is something that they could do.
If not, I have another idea I'm kicking around...
I should hopefully have my car on the road this weekend, then i can drive it to this shop out of town next week and see what they have to say about the sway bar.

Got an update on mine...
We used the stock front sway bar but modified how it connected to the car. I will get pictures the next time I'm to the shop. What they did was weld some extra tabs on the top of the front control arms, and tapped an additional bolt hole in front of the stock double bolt hole for the sway bar to bolt into so it effectively came forward about an inch was stabalized by the tabs on the control arms.
Bad part. The bad part is that the sway bar now comes up into the wheel well and the stock TII rims hit it when turning from lock to lock. Therefore, I need new rims. Luckily, I bought a set from a friend of mine that will fit. They are 17x7's or 8's in the front with a little wider offset. They fit perfect but the tires that were on it (225/50) were too wide so we need to go with 205/55's and that will fit no problem. I'm not really out anything on the tires because I can burn off the rears and replace them with the original fronts...and happily burn those off too

Interesting. That's bascially what we did for moving it forward and bolting it in, however, we did not cut the bar and attach different ends on it. The stock end links were still used but a tab was added to the control arm (or is it trailing arm?) to attach to and thereby...I had my wheel issue.
Chito's most likely didn't have that wheel problem since they did different ends on the bar to eliminate intrusion into the wheel turn radius. Those attachments kind of spook me though. One more thing to put stress on that's only held on by an allen screw but another interesting engineering solution to a problem nonetheless.

Looks like a piece of metal tubing (if you look really close at the picture). You can see light reflecting down the inside of the bar near the custom adapter piece.
Looking at that pic is giving me some ideas....

i've talked to paul ko about those and he said it would be easy to do, but he wants a fancy blade style one; and i want the stocker. maybe it time to go the easy way. i should be ready to do the bar in the next week or 2
