Question tire question

hi guys,

if i want to put down ~600-700whp safely on street tires (~250-300 threadwear) from 50mph --> 120mph'ish, what would be the minimum tire width i need?

would 285/35/19 work?

or is it even possible?

thanks!

i asked because i've seen some videos of people running supra's and rx7's in the 600whp range on street tires.

probably won't be putting any drag-only slicks on my car...

i run goodyear eagle f1 275s which are a very sticky street tire, and at 4xx hp they dont stick under around 70. I am planning to try drag radials when i get the 700hp build broke in and see how they work.....

is there any good traction control system that can help me putting the power down? i see 800whp+ supras regulardly putting the pedal through the floor on youtube everyday and they seem perfectly under control for some reason.

suspension geometry is bit different but still... i do have adjustable coilover and can set the back to relatively 'soft' setting.

when i had 300whp, traction was never a problem once i was over 20mph as long as i didn't drop the clutch.

racelogic has been used with some great results.

search for a thread titled something "traction control" in the rotary performance sub forum, I'm the OP. some pretty good discussion in there.

The racelogic traction control has been used successfully in 2 rotor applications but I don't think it has been done with a 3 rotor setup yet. I'm very interested to see if someone can get this to successfully work with a 3 rotor. I plan on going that route eventually with my 3-rotor.

I do to when I get a bit more dough. . .RICE RACING (one of the successful 2 rotor stories) and I worked out the "programming"/"tuning" that would need to be done to run a 20B with the racelogic in my thread in the rotary performance sub forum. check it out. . .the more input the better

calculon, when do you think you'll install one and give it a proper testing on a track?

no matter what people say, a GOOD traction control system WILL make you a faster driver on a track! didnt' think they made a good after-market tcs... RL does look quite promising

i also have a 3rotor, so naturally i'm very interested to see the results.

try doing a full circle with tcs @ full throttle! hope it'll be a nice controlled slide, not an ***-wiggle haha

Probably not for a while (at LEAST ~6months) . . .i was all primed to order it, and then some other more important things came up. . .

i know i know, what's more important than a 20B FD with TRACTION??!?!?

I agree with you completely in so far as it making you effectively a better driver. . .if I didn't want to build this house, I'd be letting you know. I encourage you to be confident in what RICE and I pounded out, it makes real good sense if you read the RL manual.

if you do take the plunge, be sure to post back.

either way, good luck
