strange internal tick

so while on the dyno today, my 20b started making a ticking noise.. it is rpm dependent and not really that loud but it is definitely new. it sounds like it is coming from near the front of the engine and does not change with clutch in or out. im stumped and thats all i could think that it could be. the engine still seems to be running ok and i dont really see any adverse effect. its just worrisome to me.

not sure what to think of this or what may be happening so i am turning to fellow 20b owners that most likely have more experience in this world than i do.

thanks for any tips or ideas as to what this is and how to stop it.

Dreaded rotor knock? I had that once on a '74 13B. Turned out to be a lot of missing chrome when I tore it down. Swapped in a better housing. The weird tick disappeared.

i dont know what it was..

i thought possible exhaust leak, accessory and injectors so i retightened all the exhaust nuts, removed alt belt and changed oil just in case (strained old oil and no metal present) and it seems fine now. belt back on and still no tick so.. i guess ill keep an eye on it but seems fine now.

For archival purposes, I had a tick that sounded kind of like a weedeater and it was chatter on the housings.
