FC or FD?

Hi..

I'm so close to buying an FD. I've tested it and it has all reliability mods and new engine, basically it runs great. I'm planning to do the 20b conversion, but i'm having doubts about, if i'm going to have enough Money to supply parts etc. My friend has an FC but the FD feels it has more power under the hood. But it popped in my head that if i convert it, it would be the same. But i love to hear about 50/50 weight distribution from the FD and it's really light weight body. If i went with the FC money will not be a big problem. So i'm just stuck and confused. I don't want to make a decision that will make me be regretting something

So here's the Question. Say if an FC is making 600hp and same with the FD which car would be making a better time on the strip?

I think both cars look beautifal!

Yes..

I have read other posts, But that's mostly got to do with cost. Can I have peoples opinion on performance. Would the FD be getting better times with the exact same driver and mods as a FC?

Note that the 20B conversion is more of a kit car project than a simple engine swap. If you think that you do not have the money for the conversion, then you definitely don't. If you want a 20B FD, it would be easiest and least expensive to simply buy a used Banzai if you can find one.

Hmm, 182-200 bhp vs. 255 bhp - go figure.

Um, unlike the FC which weighs an additional 3,000 lbs and has a 99/1 weight distribution. LOL.

A = F/M
T = D/R

Buy the FD, keep the 13B, and spend your money on shiny wheels and paint.

if you actually want to enjoy the car just stick with the 2 rotor. the lowly 2 rotor is still fast enough to get you in plenty of trouble

Have you done any engine management work or tuning?

Even if you could get the 20B in the car (FC or FD) for under $20k with all the accessories, could you get the ignition running?

You should think about modifying a 13B before you get into a 20B conversion so you have a basis for understanding the rotary.
Even after you've done some 13B tuning, you still may not be up to the 20B conversion.

If you want light weight, don't get an FC or an FD, get a 1st-gen.

No matter what generation you get, you're going to need to put in a ported engine, big single, and aftermarket computer to make Big Power. Might as well start from the lightest chassis instead of a 2600-3000lb FC or FD. (The FC being a fair bit lighter unless you start out with a fully optioned model)

My friends have done 13b tuning and i was there to watch and help. These guys are on the forum. I want a challenge really. And conversiions are what my uncle does, Actually he just rebuilds. And yes i'm having doubts now. Ok.... i got it, i'll tune the 13b until i have the right mods for the 20b then i'll do the swap. I want to smoke ppl on the street and beat my 13b friends.

you will be able to smoke most anybody w/ a modded 13b
if you actually try a 20b swap. DO NOT start pulling stuff out of your engine bay until you have EVERY part you need, trust me, you will need to order parts, and you will be w/out a car for a long time.
