dyno tomorrow..
hey guys my car is finally going on the dyno tomorrow mostly just to get some baseline numbers before i rebuild and port it. Doing one pull at 8psi and 2 at 14psi with some tuning in between. This is on the stock block, af61r, ltx12s.
im hoping for ~450 whp at 14psi, you guys think thats reasonable?
i'll post up the graph tomorrow, unless i make like 178hp or something, then i'll pretend it never happened.

well, not quite what i was hoping for, but not 178hp either. I think a bigger exhaust will help a lot, i was making peak boost at 4100 rpm or something, and by 6k it was down to 8-9 psi. It could be porting, but i had flow problems with this exhaust before, so thats what im gonna fix first.
in case you cant see the graph, I made 412 HP/386 TQ at 14.7 psi, (bleeding off to 8, dammit)
at 9psi I made 346/295

block has never been opened. turbo is af61r.
torque curve is the bottom half of the graph....

so i finally verified that an af61r is definately a slightly modified borg warner s300. which should be good to ~600hp.
next question, what size exhaust should i go with?
the original plan was 4" from the turbo back, then twin 3" catbacks. Anyone think that either straight 4" or even 5" would be better for me? ultimately i plan to make around 750whp after the block is ported and pinned, so i want to build the exhaust once and be done with it....

dude , i dont know how much more power you can make with the stock ports ...they simply scare me , especialy the exhaust ones , they are very restrictive
I think if you opend them .....damn she will scream

yeah i know, but when this block comes apart im going to be doing so much **** that im trying to put it off as long as i can. still deciding on dewels vs studs and seal selection, also thinking about coatings and balancing, and port phased rotors... the list is too long i need to either eliminate some stuff or make some more money. anyone know where i can get some green fibrous paper lol.

found it, and after looking at it maybe i am stretching this thing a little too far.
a bigger turbo was part of the plan anyway, im just trying to decide which one. right now im looking at either an s400 or a gt42r. s400 costs like half as much, so thats more likely. i figured the gt series turbos would be dropping in price by now, but they actually seem to be going up. last time i looked, a 42r was 1700-1800 bones from the right place, now i cant seem to find any for less than 2100.
anyone got a dyno of a 20b with an s400?

Nice numbers! It looks like the stock 20B exhaust sleeve is hurting your performance. You can also see the injector staging isn't optimzed causing the dip at 3krpm. If you move to the matrix mode, you should be able to fine tune that area.

thanks steve
yeah im working on the secondary injector thing, but I think i may need to fine tune in normal mode a little more before i switch to matrix, especially my temp maps, matrix mode worked well for me on 13b, but seems a little tricky on this motor for some reason. I also have a leaky injector i need to fix before i can do much else... keeping this habit satisfied sure is an uphill battle.
Looks like I will be making a T6 manifold for an s400, so i'll get a new dyno soon after. Also gonna weld a second bung into the downpipe so I dont have to compare MT datalogs with dyno graphs...
The new goal is 500whp on stock ports, soon as i make that i'll pull her apart for porting and doweling or maybe a stud kit. I'll keep you guys posted..
