Started making progress on the sump, she's going to be sturdy!


Going to extend the factory oil pick up further to the rear, then I can look at putting the car back together
Made some great progress in the last week. The new sump is finished and is a sturdy bit of kit

Have made some great progress of the last few weeks and have been enjoying putting it all back together 
The motor and gearbox is back in and the shifter lined up perfect.

I'm looking forward to trying out the quickshifter
Had the exhaust manifold, housing and dump all ceramic coated, come up a treat

It should help with engine bay temps and improve the efficiency of the hot side.

Worked some heat shielding around the LIM, there was always a great deal of heat soak. This will help combat the issue, and will work well with the ceramic coated exhaust pieces.
Nearly back on the street, a few things to go. Looking forward to the tune.
Looking at some bigger secondaries too, maybe the Siemens 2300cc. Has anyone played around with these?

Over the last month, I've been chipping away at getting the car put back together.
First up the radiator shroud is finished along with a -20 AN fitting welded the the top inlet of the radiator as well as the thermostat cover.
Also added a twin belt pully and modded up an early FC alternator bracket so it's the same as the later top bolt tension set up.

With all the upgrades and what I think are improvments, the car is now driving

That rubber line going over your DP and through the heat shielding will not last long before it turns rock hard and crispy, based on personal experience. Consider covering it with heat shielding or replacing it with some type of high temp braided line.
If you look closely, you see that the booster line is covered already........

Just swapped out my secondaries for some 1700cc units. i'm hoping the staging of the secondary injectors will be smooth, time will tell.
Working towards the same event I entered last year, the Snowy Mountains 1000. Top speed/ time run over 1000m.
I hoping the improvements and gearbox swap will yield a better result this year. I've also been working on an aero front bar, which I hope will help front end stability.
Anyway, I just clicked over 20 years with the RX7, she's seen a 12A, 13BT and finally the 20BT thats resides in her today!

Treated her to some new wheel, older style 16" Simmons F90's.

Got the War machine up on the rollers and had Bill Nabhan of MazSport Australia do a nice safe tune for me.
Ended up with a conservative but enjoyable 460hp, which will be nice on the street and hopefully yield me a decent time in the upcoming 1000 meter top speed run I have entered.
*The video quality is a bit poor, filmed on a phone.
I've modded up a Group C front end by fiber glassing the indicators and one brake duct.
I've also blocked off the frontal intake area ( there are five 1 1/2" holes to allow some air flow which hoping will help combat the frontal lift of the car during the run.
As it's only 1000m, I dont think the car will get too hot... but time will tell.

The Supra boys have much heavier cars to move, so I'm hoping the lightness of the Rx7 can help....

May I suggest a TKO600 if your budget stretches that far.
I bought mine brand new and had Mal Wood in Qld rebuild it with their performance pack.
Good for 600ft/lb of torque, and was $4300AUD delivered to me.
Obviously clutch, bellhousing etc is on top of that.

I had a few turbo's in mind before I decided on the S300... I was thinking the BW efr 9180 at first, it was actually Howard Coleman convinced me on these new units.
Once i read up and looked over the map, my mind was made. These units flow a ton of air and at such an affordable price compared to the other turbo's I was considering
Sizing the dump up...
