20B T.T. are all automatic?
Ive been looking at possibly swapping a 20B Twin Turbo engine into my FC but I read all over the place that the engine is only available with an automatic transmission. I seen places selling it with a manual transmission set up though so I'm just wondering if they're all automatic or are they manual too?
I know you can change the gears and **** so it will bolt up to a manual transmission but I'm not trying to do that ****. I guess I'll just go with a 13b-t swap since no one can actually give me answer they just have to act like douchebags.

As far as I know all Cosmos only came with autos, so all 13bre and 20b would have automatics. If you are doing a front clip and you get the ECU and TCM running the auto would be a cool project. I thought of doing this is a 32 roadster for a cruiser.
If you want a performance setup you would need to swap to a aftermarket ECU (haltech, motec, and electromtive) and go ahead and spend the cash on a transadapter to rock a chevy auto. It will save you money in the long run do to the part availiblity, and the ablity to get a torque convert with the right stall for you vehicle's weight and application. Search the forum, I'm sure the race guys have a thread on auto trans adapters. If not I can hunt down the links from when I did the research a few years ago.
Any swap is going to be hard work, so pick your transmission on what you want to drive, not what is easy. Most people are auto haters because they have never been in a properly setup auto, or never made enough power to need one.
Good luck on your project!

i do use the search button but none of the posts really told me if they were all automatic. im probably just going to go with a 13b single turbo since it bolts almost right in and id only have to do some simple fabrication and upgrades.
yeah youre completely right that they're both good ways to go. I really like the idea of the 20b twin turbo but with it being automatic it makes me rethink the idea. I love driving stick, it makes driving so much more fun and I feel so much more in control. The 13b single turbo is another engine I really like too and since it would cost about half to do a single turbo swap vs. the 20 twin turbo swap I'm more then likely going to go with the single turbo also considering I can get the single turbo engine with all the sensors and transmission where the 20b t/t is just the engine.
Most people who goes 20B transplant (99+%), they ditch the auto tranny.. You make it sound like you don't want to go 3 rotor because tranny can not be removed.. Again, do bit more search and learn more about the conversions..
FYI: 20B project usually doesn't equal to 2x going single turbo (pending type of turbo).. Usually most spends more like 10+ times the cost of going single.

I know you can get rid of the auto trans but I'd rather not spend the time and money doing that when I can buy the single turbo engine with the manual trans and save time and money. The only thing I don't like about the single turbo is the turbo lag and that the 20b t/t puts out so much more power.
First of all, you need to realize there are vast different degree of 'single turbo' and "single turbo engine". Also, stock 20B TT with factory wiring and ECU will only produce as much as lightly modded FD. I know this as I just drove home with one...
This is what I usually tell people... First, go figure out what your goal is... If you goal is some ultimate ALL around, 9 sec 1/4 mile car that you are going to go take it to a race track and beat everyone, And then drive 500 miles home getting 30+MPG,.. there is NO such a thing.
Instead, use this forum to meet those around you with whatever set up you see and go meet them in person and see if they will give you a ride. Maybe after that, you know what its like to ride in a single, 400+RWHP car or stock 3 rotor.

I don't know why you're giving me an attitude because I'm new to rotaries, let alone working on cars in general. So if people are going to come on here and act like an ******* to a 19 year old kid who's just learning and trying to figure out **** then go **** yourself. I know differences between engines and turbos and the differences they make and can make. I'm not looking for some ridiculous track car or something that will get me 30+ mpg. I'm looking to build an RX7 that meets what I want and I'm going to succeed in it. Maybe some of you's aren't trying to be douchebags but don't come off as one. I'm going with a 13b single stock turbo engine.
