20B engine stand adaptors

Just wanted to let you guys know that there is a new 20B-specific Rotary Engine Stand Adaptor available. It mounts to the large center housing and has welded-in through-spacers, so all that weight on the little M10 fasteners is on multiple shear planes. We have never sold a 20B adaptor before because the normal way of modifying a 13B adaptor is, in our opinion, unsafe...particularly for undressing and dressing the assembled 20B engine.

The first batch of adaptors is being welded up right now and will be going to powdercoating tomorrow. I would expect to have them back and ready to ship sometime next week. Price is probably going to be about $75, unless you want to get a group buy going...say $65 plus shipping ($8.10 in the USA) for ten orders. If you are interested, visit our vendor sub-forum.

I am adding them to the web site this morning. The adaptors are going to powdercoating today but I will hold a few back in case anyone needs one ASAP and does not mind a spray paint job (or no paint, if you want to paint it yourself). The adaptor in the photos is just painted. The powdercoated ones will probably be ready next week.

Oh, I forgot about fasteners. The bolts to fasten the adaptor to the stand are in stock but the ones to fasten the engine to the adaptor are on order. However, you can just use transmission bolts if you have them. These are just M10x1.25 (really fine thread), the same as the tranny.

Also, it should be no problem holding an engine for an extended period of time. We do it all the time in the shop, though only for months not years. I can't imagine any long term risks for storage.

Here is a link to the product in our web store:

well im *hoping* it will be in the months, but i know how i work so....

also, (i know this isnt the place to ask, i should probably PM you guys) but how much would a rebuild/streetport and swapping exhaust sleeves to the FD ones be? at the moment the motor has decent compression but i feel like id be driving on borrowed time if i didnt have a rebuild done before hand.

Yeah, you should PM for pricing and details. However, we don't re-use rotor housings, so it would just be a matter of getting new FD housings. Adds a lot to expense but makes for a better, much longer lasting engine. There are plenty of shops that will build a lower grade motor. We just don't play in that end of the pool.

Back to the 20B Engine Stand Adaptors: I just picked up a handful of fasteners to mount the engine on the adaptor, so we can fulfill any urgent orders, provided powdercoating is not required. The rest of the fasteners and the powdercoated brackets should be ready sometime next week, I hope. I had several calls about the brackets today, so it looks like they are going to be quite popular.

Powdercoater is telling me that the brackets will be done on Monday. I should be able to ship on Tuesday, if that holds true.

Quick update:
The brackets are back from powdercoating and ready to ship. I have already boxed up and labeled the standing orders, which will be picked up by USPS tomorrow.

Just letting you know that I have created a discount code for $10 off the price of our 20B Rotary Engine Stand Adaptor (regularly $75). You can use it by entering 20BDC1 at checkout or by following this link http://WWW.PINEAPPLERACING.COM/index.asp?DC=20BDC1 and purchasing the item in the usual manner. As a heavy but compact item, it can ship in a USPS Flat Rate Box for $8.95 anywhere in the USA, to Canada for something like $21 and overseas for about $35.

Nice, I'll be ordering one in the near future. Speaking of 20B, do you sell rebuild kits and gasket sets for 20B's?

Oh yeah, the 20B looks great in the picture.

Thanks. Yes, we can set you up with a rebuild kit. While most everything is on the web site, I would be happy to take the order over the phone and help you decide what is needed.
