20B cas

Do 20Bs us crank angle sensors or Hall effect sensors to see rpm? I'm planning on using a Haltech sport 2000. Just trying to figure out how that will be setup

20b uses a mechanical CAS identical to that of the FC rx7. The only difference is the clip on the end of the wires. Wiring is the same, same colors ETC.

You will be fine using the OEM front cover / CAS. The hall sensor upgrade is available w/ trigger wheel etc by FFE, but I don't find it necessary. Make sure you have good cranking speed so that the CAS will generate enough signal on start-ups and you're g2g.

do NOT buy the FFE kit if you have a haltech PS2000 it does not support it!, i got 1 collecting dust just because of that reson....

With haltech your best option is to do what i did, FD front cover and sensors, the 20b CAS is "ok" but can be sloppy and worn and requires very good starting rpm.

The 20b eshaft does flex a little at high rpm so there have been people that have had missreadings with the ffe style trigger thou since it reads the teeth radially.....the FD sensor reads axially and is not affected by shaft flex.

13b cas from fc will fit into the 20b front cover and work. 13brew will require front cover swap to utilize. Id use the factory 20b cas and front cover, unless you're running extremely high hp / rpm etc and worried about scatter

Well it all depends if I buy a 20b or peace one together that will decide if I use a 13b or 20b front cover and ****. Where can I find info on wireing the cas and all the settings in the sport 2000 for a 20b? Idk if Haltech would have that info.

If you purchase a ps2000 they will tell you everything you need to know. Its not to difficult, once you get in there you'll see what wires need to go where after looking at the diagrams

Good luck "piecing" together a 20b btw haha

There is a sticky thread in the Haltech section of this forum called "Installation diagrams and setup tips" with all the info you need to wire up that ecu. See post #47 on 2nd page. Your welcome!

Anything about settings on the Ecu? Or using the stock 20b cool packs?

Forgive me for asking the seemingly obvious question, but did you use our handy dandy 'search' feature? If not, allow me to paraphrase

CAS: 20B works just like a FC one, it just has the grounds tied together AT THE STOCK NF01 ECU. Same settings as well. I'm using a FC CAS in my 20B

Front Cover: Leave it alone, period.

Coils: No one has translated the JC Cosmo wiring diagrams as of yet (except me... ) and labeled the wire colors/functions in said diagrams in English. My translation is only halfway done. Simple solution is to go get six LS1/2/D585 coils and go direct fire.

See my build thread for more info.
