Yes, over the years I have been through many systems in the . Here is my latest one and I think best one to date!
Here was the concept I came up with.
Yes my art skills are unmatched!!!!

I will be using some still yet unreleased Elemental Designs e.10 10" subs.

I then went about building the baffle board to hold these 3 beasts.




Here is the base of the new box.



The fiberglass will go up to the sides of the hatch, so I’m using as much ¾” MDF as I can to make it go a little faster.

 

I also redid my amp rack so it’s as far out of the way as possible.



I’m finishing up the slot port as we speak. The port will be 8" wide, 2" tall and 12.64" long on internal dimensions. The internal dimensions of the enclosure will be as close to 3 cuft after displacement of the port and subs as possible. (speaker displacement = .18, port = .24)

Back of the port is flared also.

 

I’m not sure what location I will use for the port?


Suggestions? I kind of like it under the subs and not too the side.

The space between the factory trim panel and the amp rack cover will be fiberglass molded in.

 

Looks very nice so far...I especially like the amp rack....I think you could sell those and make some coin.

Unfortunately, the subs you chose fit into a MUCH small area than mine. ONE of my woofers I want in my RX7 needs an enclosure 23.25 in. x 13.5 in. x 14.5 in. My port (Slot Width x Slot Height x Slot Length) is 1.5 in x 12 in x 22.5 in, with an 8 in extension. As you can see, I am looking for a woofer more for the size of our hatch (My 2 10" are in the trunk of an IS300....the WHOLE trunk!). So I have been forced (don't laugh) into a bandpass box with - - - - believe it or not - - - Two 6" Kicker Stillwaters (OLD SCHOOL ENOUGH?) They got me 1st in the 1-300 watts audio comp, but I am now ready to up the amperage in there (SLOW LANE PERFECTIONIST as my subtitle staes)

The ONLY thing I would suggest, since you appear to be talented in this type of fabrication, is to see if you could angle the port UP and take advantage of the glass. Two lessons I learned having my post facing rear like in your pics...

First - The hardware on the molding as well as the hatch started to loosen themselves up

Second - If ANYTHING small is in your hatch area, it WILL go inside the port....at least that was MY luck !!

Sorry to get off subject but I have been meaning to ask yu this for awhile.

Doy you have the measurements/specs from your earlier build( twelves facing the seats). The demssions of the sides and the face plate and also the masonite cover would rock.

Also do you still have the pictures from it(most seem to be gone from posts now)

As a fellow woodworker, that's one hell of a nice job in concept, imagination and execution. I would like to see more detail on the process of how you made that piece. I don't even have a radio in the widebody, but making something like that might make it worth putting a system in.

Some updates. I'm molding in the stock rear trim piece which originaly had carpet hangin down to fill the void between it and the bottom of the rear hatch. I think it looks much better this way.





Filling the gap along the bottom for a rear nice fit. I'm using fiberglass reinforced body filler for this.

I wish i could get in on this sub competition ... I've definatly got a great idea that will blow yours away :P .... maybe its time to get another car and build this one for show instead of track lol
