Woo Hoo rats nest removed...yet...?'s

Score another for a noob that has the ***** to do a rat's nest removal. Finished the install early this morning and i must say that i am pleased with my work. I cannot beleive all the stuff that had to come out of this little car.

Although i have a couple of questions to those that have removed the rat's nest:

Does your car seem a little more difficult to start after removal of the rat's nest?

Did your idle increase a little? Before rats nest removal it idled at about 800rpm, now it seems to idle around 1000rpm, is that typical?

Any help would be great, and by the way the car runs great, and there are absolutely no vacuum leaks, i checked like four times.

I will also add that i am very proud of my work. It seemed like such a task just flipping through the pages on the computer and then looking at my car. I showed all my friends what i had done and they just couldnt grasp how proud i was of it I guess you just have to be a rotorhead.

Double and triple check for vacuum leaks. Then, go back through the tutorial and make sure that you did everything correctly and did not miss anything. If you have a camera, you might want to take a bunch of photos and let some of the guys see your work. They might be able to spot something that is not quite right. It's been a while since I did it, and my memories are a little foggy because I was drunk at the time.... But hey, the directions seemed clearer to me that way!

Uh, yeah I guess so. The car should idle fine and run great. If the idle is higher, then chances are you have a vacuum leak somewhere...

Unless, have you tried adjusting the idle speed and mixture? If you are not able to get the idle down no matter what, then you're dealing with a vac leak. But the removal of the nest does make a lot of changes, so maybe having to re-adjust the idle afterwards is not so far out of the question.

Thats what i was thinking, at the same time i should add that i installed a real big air filter set up. And i checked and checked and checked for a vacuum leak, plus it sounds rock solid, no hissing. I am almost positive its not a vac leak, every hose is either conneccted or plugged. Maybe i will try to turn down the idle a sniffle in the morning.

my idle went from 500 before then i removed the nest and it didnt idle at all so i turned up my idle and now runs strong at 600-700 no vacum leaks studied the tutorial like a freak and even had the lap top next to me while i did the removal..........

only thing wrong is using the choke is starts studering and puffing black and white smoke out but runs fine when choke isnt used

Thanks to Rx7Carl: Rat's Nest Removal Instruction

You can retrieve the instruction here:

http://maz_tutorials.ten15.net/Tutorial_1_print.pdf

Be patient it takes a while to open. I had the same problem retrieving this so I contacted Rx7Carl and he sent me the link.

Good Luck.
