won't start

Alright got the car to start and idle for a bit then did. Well the choke was stuck used a thing to move it up and down and it works so much smoother. then went to start and would not start. I have some spark but i also have the front coil arcing. How can I fix this?? and how can i tell if it is flooded?? This motor will crank crank crank and then shoot flames. Open header. But it will not run did i screw up the timming and how can i check timming the quick way? And Any idea why it will not start no i have fuel and i have spark but it will not run.

Did you have the distributor out at any stage? If so it sounds like you might have re-installed it wrong.

Well, my thoughs might be that its flooded. Im not sure about the coil arcing though. You could just use the pasic RX-7 de-flood technique to de-flood it. I have done it once, but im not sure if i did it right, although the car does run you might just get the info on how to do it from someone else I just did it by removing the spark plugs, shut off the fuel pump, turned over the engine to blow out the excess fuel, used a "Zoom Spout" oil bottle and poured a little ATF fluid down each hole, replaced spark plugs, turned fuel pump on and cranked her over and hoped she started, which she did. Feel free to correct me on any of this if its wrong, or if you have a better way. I just did it this way cause it was the way i read online from another site before I found this one. Hope that helps with the flodding at least. Oh and just out of curiosity, you said that your coil was arcing...from where and to where is it arcing?

Sorry, i missed the timing part of your question. The easiest way to check the timing i know of is to just use the way the shop books tell you. You just use a standard timing gun, although i have since forgotten which color the marks are, so im not much help there. But you can just pick up a manual for it at an auto parts store and read that, or im sure someone here knows how to do it. The only problem with checking your timing this way, is the car has to be running first...The manual also tells you how to adjust your idle speed and mixture to get the engine running at the right idle speed before you check your timing.

If your front coil is arching, swap front and rear coils.
Also, are your plugs fouled?
Try push starting it.

When my 7 does things that I would rather it not do, I just sweet talk it and give it a rub here and there with a clean towel... That seems to do the job for me

Then when i get home, it's fixing time.. hehe

Don't know much about it, but if you're at wits end try taking off the cat. Mine would fire and try to start but never quite get there. Once I pulled the cat off it roared right to life (and I do mean roared!).

What is a cat? I have stinking cat. When i got inspected they cutt off the cats and put on one glass pack. Guess what glass pack is just a small eco chamber. My exhuast is pretty much straight pipes. I am wondering what some one was talking about when they said putting the distribtir back together. How can i do that wrong it onle goes to gether one way.

isn't it illegal for a commercial garage to cut off cats and not replace it?

This garage has put exhaust on every car and guess what the exhuast will out last the car. He cut the cat off the truck and off the van and everything he hates them and the amn with the blue wrench rules the garage.
