This Sucks Big Time

my car got broken into on Tue. jan 22, around 7:15pm-11:00pm. i just found out. They stole my AMP, Remote for my deck, two speakers and my cds in the cd case. funckers couldn't steal my box and subs and deck b/c of the good installation. I already called ICBC.

p.s. Thanks Scott for the box, hahaha they couldn't steal it

sorry to hear the news, always sad, how bad did they damage the car to get into it? Some people need to get a job, instead of stealing from us working peeps.

hey man i feel ya...my dads got broken into also, they popped out the drivers lock and used tin snips and cut the door about 6 inches towards the front of the car and about 4 inches down and then bent it open to unlock it. then they stole all his cds, his sub, and amp. they couldnt get the deck out, but they screwed up the beauty ring that goes around it and the rest of the controls in the center...luckily the local junkyard had some decent interior parts we salvaged...on another note, you mentioned the box in yours is in there good? i was wondering how you did that cause im gonna put a box in mine and i dont want some crack heads stealing it

i pretty much cut the pieces and assemble inside the car, so it fits the trunk and doesn't come out without breaking it

Man I really would not be too happy if that happened to me either. I though have the stock stereo in my '85 GSL with a self powered sub in the back. For what I pay'd which was nothing since my bro gave it to me for a birthday, sounds very deep and sounds wonderful....for a stock tape deck/radio.

A thief would probably look into the car through the tint and realize it was completely stock/perfect interior and walk on. But they probably would never get even that far when they see the hail-damage from tennis ball size hail.

man, that really bites! i'd recommend trying to be a little stealthy in the next install. thieves don't take what they don't see. decks are easy, just get one with a removable or flip face. subs are a bit tougher to hide. a 'blind' of sorts can be made for the hatch to go over it all. ever see the pull blind in the back of an 82 vette? it's just like a house window pull blind, only it lays flat. i've got a bazooka tube in mine that i have a tough time hiding. it's camoflauged by a big ol' blanket! not too pretty, but nobody looks twice at it. my friends don't even realize it's there until i crank the stereo. they just think i'm a slob with a blanket in the back. i think the best thing for a 1st gen is to hide the sub where the storage boxes go, under the floor. another option....ALARM! the problem is, nobody pays attention to alarms anymore. my solution is to find the biggest, baddest, most earpiercing siren you can find(jc whitney has a 140db siren) and mount it INSIDE the car. 140db can be heard from a mile away. 140db inside a closed space will make ears bleed i'd have a hidden safety switch for it inside the car... just in case it goes off while you're in it.

sorry 'bout that pele! how about this one: my friend soldered razor blades to the back of his stereo. first person to reach under the dash is going to come back with less than what they started with (skin, blood, fingers, whatever)

Oh yeah. That's good stuff. I've ehard of doing that. Now we kick the evilness up a bit.

Coat the razor blades in some nasty burning chemical or disease or something.

I usually screw the box to the floor, then put the subs in the box. My amp is in the storage bin, its so big that I had to take the bins apart to mount it. It won't come out without taking the bins apart. I also use a metal strap to hold the back of the deck to the dash, making it a major bitch to get out.

I saw a cool stealth mod in a car audio mag a while back. This kid took his factory stereo and cut away the faceplate. He took the ***** and glued them on the face in the right places. He fastened the fake face over his aftermarket deck. When he leaves his car, he just snaps this cover on. It was pretty cool and looked good.

I admit some rice-beaters are fast as sh*t and look good, but I just hate that sound
