white foamy discharg in oil filler neck

i pulled my car out of the paint shop today to find it smoking out the exhaust (more than usual). i checked and my oil smells heavily of gas. now i have run a search on that but my big concern is something else.

when i took off the oil cap i noticed a white foamy substance on the inside of the cap. and then i looked down to see that it was covering the inside of the oil filler neck. can anyone explain this? any ideas what is going on?

please oh please help me.

sounds like a buildup of gas and water in the oil do to a lack of crankcase ventalation

do you have one of the vac lines on the oil filler neck hooked up to the air filter?

look at the emissions removal tutorial at mazspeed.com. It's in the facts section. It explains how to make sure the oil system is vented to avoid the foamy crap you're seeing.

I ended up getting this after being stupid and running into the store to get another qt of oil while my hood was up, the cap was off the neck, and it was pissing down rain like a waterfall. The crap looks like someone hocked a lugi in your filler neck, or worse.

I cleaned it out really well, and it never came back. Just something to think about. If you ever have the cap off in the rain, this may happen to you...

Yea Peejay calls it lungmustard LOL. rifraff, you MUST have some functional vent system or you will that this crap in the filler neck. VERY common to see after emissions/rats nest were removed, and not done properly. Yea study the tutorial near the end, it details how to restore that part of the system to functional status.

as far as i knew i had a functional venting system. the tube coming out of the filler neck goes straight into an air filter. or does it actually have to be a vacume line coming off of it to properly vent (something like the vacume line for the power breaks)?

Look, just venting it to atmosphere isint enough. You need some pull on it to keep the case clean. You cant just hook it to vacuum cause itll pull the case pressure down too low, which will cause excessibe blowby/ oil consumption. You need a restriction of some sort. The stock system works great. As an alternative, plumb in an off the shelf PCV valve. Peejay swears by this setup.

"white foamy discharg in oil filler neck"

No emmissions and no stock carb? Sounds like gonorhea, have you checked with your doctor? Who you been seeing lately?

Put a rubber over your oil filler tube if you have the lid off and the hood open in the rain. It will prevent getting that white foamy discharge.

The tutorial server has been up and down all weekend undergoing heavy maintenance. Should be up and stable now.

Cheers.

There is plenty of lubrication already. Basically whatever you normally keep in the car should be ok but be careful using the "French" or other exotic variety on a RHD car as they may be incompatible.

You can cap the lower one or do like I do an attach the tank vent line to it. Then run the pvc from
the top nipple and into vacuum on the intake manifold. You can tee into the vacuum for the brake
booster if not running an air cleaner with a nipple. Otherwise just attach the pvc hose to a nipple
on the air cleaner.
